Stop At: Seven Sisters, Moscow Russia
Seven skyscrapers built by Joseph Stalin during one of the most controversial periods in Soviet history. Industrialisation was happening quickly, state was becoming stronger, people were starving and dying in labor camps and those buildings became symbols of it all. We will talk about their architecture, historical significance, people who lived there and live there now.

Stop At: Mayakovskaya Metro Station, Triumfalnaya Sq., Moscow 125047 Russia
Moscow Metro is arguably one of the most beautiful metro systems and the world (also the most efficient). Stations built during the middle of Soviet period represented country's glory - it's achievements in agriculture, industry, culture, military. They were called "palaces people" and being decorated with innumerous types of marble, golden mosaics, bronze sculptures and delicate stained glass pieces there is a reason to be called like that.
We will see not only Mayakovskaya but a couple of those stations to get an idea on different types of them:)

Stop At: Lubyanka Square, Moscow 109012 Russia
Lubyanka square was one of the scariest places in the country. Here were located headquarters of KGB - scary cold war police, that was catching spies, people who were speaking openly against Soviet government and generally dealing with matters of state security.
Before KGB here were headquarters of another type police called NKVD who were working during the time of Joseph Stalin. NKVD was arresting, shooting and sending to labor camps "enemies of the people" - basically people who would have disagreed with the main political line of communist party.

Stop At: Solovetskiy Stone, Lubyanskaya Square, Moscow 101000 Russia
The Solovetsky Stone is a monument located on Lubyanka Square in Moscow, across the road from the former KGB headquarters. The monument is a large stone brought from the Solovetsky Islands, the location of the strictest prison camps of USSR - Solovki, a part of the Soviet GULAG system. The monument was erected in 1990 to honour victims of political repressions in the Soviet Union.

Stroll along the bustling Tverskaya Street, which one of the busiest arteries of the city. Historically it was one of the main roads, connecting Moscow Kremlin with other parts of Moscow and even other cities. A lot of changes happened to this part of the city centre during USSR period. Buildings were destroyed, moved, changed, erected. People were given apartments here, they were taken from them as well. Now there are lots of shops, restaurants, some of the most expensive apartments but also a lot talk about in terms history of Soviet Union.

Revolution Square, the scene of the hard-fought battles during the 1917 Russian Revolution. Feel the history here, and learn about such chapters of the Soviet past as Stalins Great Terror between 1936 and 1938, the KGB prisons, the tense stand-off of the Cold War, the Soviet Movement for Freedom and even the beginning of the USSR period - a lot of those events happened on this square on not far.
Also, here is located Bolshoi Theatre, Metropol hotel, Karl Marx sculpture and be sure, we will discuss they role in our culture:)

Stop At: The Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy (VDNKh), Mira Ave., 119, Moscow 129223 Russia
It's the large exhibition park, dedicated to greatness of USSR in agriculture and industry. There more than a hundred impressive pavilions here made in the Stalin's Empire style as we call it or in the style resembling architecture of particular Soviet republics. A lot of them are decorated with sculptures of people and animals, with frescoes on the theme of the life of Soviet Union and each one is connected to a part in the Soviet life.
