St. Basil's Cathedral is a remarkable 16th-century architectural monument that has become the most recognizable symbol of Moscow. A true must-see, the Cathedral means to Russians the same as the Eiffel Tower to the French, being an honorable symbol of their past, present, and future.

Located mere steps away from the Kremlin wall, Lenin’s Mausoleum (Lenin’s Tomb) is one of the most controversial yet popular of Moscow’s attractions. Every year around 2.5 million people visit the mausoleum to see the embalmed body of the legendary Russian revolutionary, Vladimir Lenin.

The mausoleum is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 10am to 1pm. The mausoleum is closed on public holidays and maintenance days.

The existing walls and towers of the Kremlin were erected from 1485-1495, under the supervision of the Italian architects. The triangular-shaped fortress has twenty towers, each of them has a name and unique history. The Kremlin wall was built to protect the citizens from actual attacks - it is 2,235 meters in length, 8 to19 meters in height and 3.5 to 6.5 meter thick.

Alexander Garden is an ideal place for relaxing in a green area in the very centre of the noisy metropolis. It has a number of monuments erected in memory of the two major Russian wars: French-Russian war of 1812 and World War II, such as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a faux ruined grotto and a monument of Alexander I.

Manezhnaya Square is a pedestrian open space at the heart of Moscow. The square forms a vital part of downtown Moscow, connecting Red Square with the major traffic artery Tverskaya Street, which starts here and runs northwestward in the direction of Saint Petersburg.

Red Square has long been known as a trading place: trade was carried on in stone shops, commonly referred to as the “trading rows”. New trading rows designed by Alexander Pomerantsev in the eclectic style were constructed in the 1880s. Pomerantsev created sort of a few fancy streets with small shops arranged in three levels and covered with a glass roof resting on a curved steel framework. Today’s GUM is a huge shopping centre, largely offering expensive premium-segment items. However, Muscovites often drop into the GUM to get an ice cream – the local old-timers claim that the famous wafer cups still have ‘that very’ taste of the much-loved Soviet-time treat.

Zaryadye Park in the very center of Moscow opened to visitors in 2017. The massive project of the contemporary park cost the city more than an enormous sum, but it was not for nothing - now the park is one of the most popular recreation areas in Moscow. Zaryadye can boast of a spectacular floating bridge, landscapes with plants from different climatic zones of Russian nature, large amthitheatre, ice cave etc.

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier of Moscow is a memorial dedicated to the Soviet soldiers who fell during the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). The inscription reads: ‘Your name is unknown, your deeds immortal.’ Every hour on the hour, the guards perform a perfectly synchronised ceremony to change the guards on duty.
