Itinerary

Day 1: Mt. Kigali, Kigali, Kigali Province

Stop At: Mt. Kigali, Kigali Rwanda
Meet and greet tour Driver /guide at our office or somewhere in Kigali – short briefing about your city tour. Proceed for a city tour in Kigali, Rwanda’s capital city which was named in 1907 by Dr. Richard Kandt, the first colonial resident governor of Rwanda. Kigali city is surrounded by lush hills of green. On the tour through the city, expect to see the following:

Tour will start by visiting Mount Kigali for a fantastic view of the city, surrounding hillside and countryside. It is one of the highest points in Kigali city
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Kandt House Museum, 90 St Kn, Kigali Rwanda
Kigali Museum and learn the history of city and country’s pre-colonial and colonial period as well as the colonial masters in Rwanda.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Kigali Genocide Memorial, KG 14 Ave, Kigali Rwanda
Visit the genocide memorial site, a grim reminder of a senseless massacre of innocent’s lives in 1994. Learn about Rwanda’s history from pre-colonial times to 1994 genocide and how Rwanda has dealt with that past. We continue with our tour and see the new developments in Rwanda; the recovery has been incredible, a testament to humankind’s resilience

Mille Collines Hotel (Hotel Rwanda) for lunch

Kigali city tour will include a stop at the historic 'Hotel Rwanda'. Still a classy hotel to this day, the Mille Collines Hotel offers a delicious buffet lunch including African Food such as Amateke, Ibijumba etc.

Visit the Kimoronko Giant Market, where you will have a chance to bargain as locals do and test to african food such fruits, drinks and also you will have chance to the hand art and craft market of CAPLAKI for souvenir shopping.

Day 2: Drive from Kigali to the beautiful Nyungwe forest

This morning we depart Kigali for a 3 day chimpanzee trekking safari in Nyungwe forest national park.

Stop At: National Museum of Rwanda, RN1/Road to Nyanza The museum actually is situated in the town of Nyanza, Butare Rwanda
There is an optional stopover in Huye at the ethnographic museum formerly the national museum of Rwanda.
Duration: 1 hour

Pass By: Butare catholic Cathedral, Butare Rwanda
You will then proceed to the park after having Lunch at the Hotel Credo near the Very popular Catholic cathedral at Butare.

Stop At: Canopy Walk & Emergent Tower, 9550 Sperry Rd, Kirtland, OH 44094-5149
n the afternoon, you will take on the canopy walk in Nyungwe forest in Rwanda.

Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe forest national park

Stop At: Nyungwe National Park, Butare Rwanda
Early morning at about 5.00 am depending on location of your lodge, your driver guide will pick you up and transfer you to the briefing point at the Uwinka visitors center in Nyungwe forest before you can start your chimpanzee trekking. The forest is rich in botanical diversity hosting over 200 species of trees and flowering plants and about 300 bird species.

The forest is also home to 13 species of primates including Olive baboons, L’Hoest’s monkeys, Ruwenzori colobus, Vervet monkeys, silver monkey, Grey-cheeked manga-bey, red-tailed monkey etc. You will most likely sight some of these forest inhabitants on your chimpanzee trekking.

After receiving a briefing and depending on the number of people present for the chimp trek you will be divided into two groups. One will track starting at he Uwinka center and another starting at Cyamudongo – which will require your driver guide to transfer you to the starting point. Your range guide will be in communication with the trackers who live early morning to locate where the chimpanzee nested the previous night. You are allowed to stay with the chimps for only 1 hour after locating them, photography is allowed but be reminded that the flash is prohibited.

Stop At: Lake Kivu, Kibuye Rwanda
fter you will transferred to Hotel for Lunch or if you have shortage of time you will leave hotel with parked lunch then we will have some rest to make ready return to Kigali via Kibuye Road where you will pass by shore of Lake Kivu.
Duration: 20 minutes
