Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Azizi Life Experiences, RN1, Gitarama, Muhanga, Muhanga Rwanda

For the experience guests are split into groups of less than 6 people per household, so it is the perfect opportunity to really connect with your Rwandan hosts. The exact activities are dependent on the season as the weather depicts significant events in the community, so be prepared to be flexible in case events lead to a change of plan.

At 9am there is a 10 minute briefing at the office before a beautiful drive out to the local rural community where you will be spending the day.  On arrival at the village you will be welcome by the cooperative and you will get you dress in appropriate attire.  Then its off to the fields and to the coffee plants.

You will learn about the plants and how to select the right cherries and then how to harvest them.  The ladies of the cooperative will show you how to do the activity and will work alongside you. They will encourage you to take a rest whenever you need to, or to sit out and watch if you prefer.

At 11am you will join the locals to fetch water or if you prefer you can head to the kitchen to help with food preparation.  Once the water is collected you will wash and pulp the coffee cherries and leave them out to dry.

Lunch will be served at 12.30 and this will be local Rwandan food that the family would normally eat. The food will be cooked as vegetarian e.g. cassava and beans. This is a good time to ask your hosts about life in their community. They may have questions for you too about life in your home country.

After an hour at lunch its time to hand roast and grind dried coffee beans using traditional tools. Once ground, the coffee is sieved to get the fine grounds to use for your cup of coffee. Then the moment we have all been waiting for you get to make the perfect cup of traditional Rwandan Coffee to enjoy with your new friends.

At around 3pm its time to leave the village and so after your farewells to the ladies of the cooperative you head back to the office in Muhanga (Gitarama).  There you will enjoy a cold drink and have a debrief about your experience before shopping for gifts and souvenirs in the fair trade boutique, here you will find a wide range of high quality handicrafts for sale, including those made by the ladies you visited.
