Heritage Turtle Watch is the only guided turtle encounter available on the east-coast and is instrumental in turtle conservation, specifically the endangered Leatherback turtles that frequent this beach. Take an unrivalled peak behind the curtain of a natural wonder thousands of years in the making at Grande Anse Beach. Watch as mother turtles lay their clutches of eggs from March – July, forming a pathway to the ocean for the baby turtles as they begin their dangerous journey into adolescence. Only 1 in 1000 turtles make it to maturity. Come witness a miracle with us and create memories to last a lifetime.

Stop At: Grande Anse, St. Lucia

You will first take a scenic drive through St. Lucia’s countryside as far as the community of Des Barras. From here we start the off road descend onto the famous Grande Anse Bay where we will be based for the night.

Grand Anse is the longest white sand beach on the Atlantic Side of St. Lucia, approximately 2 miles. It is well known for its natural, untouched environment and nesting ground for the largest marine turtle: Leatherback turtles, the world’s largest living reptiles. During the months of March through to July, (this may vary on weather conditions) you may have a chance to witness a true natural wonder.

Our experienced and trained tour guides will give you an introduction and a welcome briefing, before heading on a walk along the beach to familiarize you with the area.

The team will lead you to base camp where you will enjoy an authentic St Lucian home-style BBQ dinner. You have the option of walking the beach with the guides to spot turtles under the gorgeous night sky; or relax at the base, which is equipped with tents for a nap during the night.

As soon as a turtle is spotted, the group will be informed by the guide and you will make your way to the turtle. You have a chance to watch her laying her eggs up-close. You will agree – THIS IS AN EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME!

To close of your experience, you will enjoy a famous local St. Lucian breakfast, with an amazing sunrise as your backdrop.
