Right in front of you should be a sign reading Little India Arts Belt This Art Belt space has murals, exhibits, and sculptures displayed on a temporary and rotating basis. Each piece is connected to Singaporean culture or Little India history.

Shree Lakshminarayan Temple is a tall red and white patterned building that was originally a residential complex before the North Indians in Singapore turned it into a Hindu temple.

Stop At: Foochow Methodist Church, 90 Race Course Rd, Singapore 218577
This church has a unique and powerful story. In the late 1800s, Chinese settlement in this area was growing. Poor Christian migrants from Foochow, China moved to Singapore and worked as rickshaw-pullers and barbers. As their numbers grew, so did the need for a dedicated space for worship. They were able to buy this building in the mid-1900s. By the late-1900s, the thriving church was able to buy the building next door, which functions as a kindergarten and social programs space.

Whats this mosques history? Well, Mohammed Sallah Eussoof Anguilla emigrated from India in 1850. He was a Gujarati-speaking Sunni Muslim who wanted to expand his familys spice trade business here. Anguilla successfully developed a network stretching throughout Southeast Asia. He bought this land in 1890 and began building a mosque. The Anguilla family continue to be trustees of the mosque today.

Now that youve turned onto Syed Alwi Road, youll see a long, five-story building ahead and to your left. Thats the famous Mustafa Center. Walk towards it until you see an entrance.
For such a large enterprise, Mustafa Centres origins were quite modest. It grew out of a simple stall that sold only handkerchiefs!

The white, many-layered building is the Kampong Kapor Methodist Church. Sophia Blackmore was the first female Methodist missionary in Singapore. In 1890, she set up a church for about 20 Chinese-Malaysians in her home. This little group became the foundation for the massive Kampong Kapor Methodist Church in front of you today.
