Medieval Bratislava with a historian - 2 hours

Medieval Bratislava was a border fort but not only soldiers lived there. It was a bustling commercial and intellectual hub connecting the old Hungarian kingdom and the West, always full of locals and foreigners looking for delicious wine, precious metals, clothes and fine horses. We will follow the steps of soldiers, merchants and friars and look for medieval gems hidden in the 18th century baroque town.

This tour unravels the stories and secrets of life in the Middle Ages.

St. Martin's Church is the best starting point of our tour because it is the heart of old Bratislava. Moreover, it offers a unique insight into the medieval way of thinking. After that we would visit the city walls, which reveal the tensions and dangers of those times, as well as the former High Street of the Romanesque town, that was later converted into a peaceful ecclesiastical quarter. We cannot bypass the oldest nunnery with a splendid tower that really isn't and the oldest preserved church with its Sainte Chapelle. All these monuments have been guarded for centuries by St. Michael from his gate. Finally, our way will lead us to the centre of municipal power - the Old Town Hall and we will look for the Mediterranean-like houses around.
