Big Red Wine Tour

Join us for a day in the wine country tasting the

BIG REDS that have made South African wines famous !  Your guide will collect you from your accommodation and transfer to the wine country where you get to visit 4 wineries with a stop for lunch on a Wine Estate

You will visit some of the  great Historical and Iconic Estates as well as hidden gems with beautiful scenery and  Cape Dutch Architecture

The day begins with our friendly qualified  guide collecting you from your accommodation at 9.30am in one of our air conditioned vehicles.

After a short transfer where the guide will explain the history of the region and how wine-making  found its way to the tip of Africa we stop off at

MEERLUST VINEYARD  famous for being the first vineyard in South Africa to produce a Bordeaux blend in 1980 but more importantly known throughout the world for their quality award winning wines.

Here, a mere 5 kilometers from the sea  amongst Historical buildings (1776)  the traditional dedication to the art of winemaking continues under the guidance of Hannes Myburgh, eighth generation custodian of this seventeenth-century national monument.

Next up we visit  the iconic

RUST EN VREDE VINEYARD  which is at the forefront of South Africa's Red revolution ! Big, juicy, succulent reds being the order of the day. For the last 32 years they have specialized  only red wine production with emphasis on Syrah,Merlot and Cabernet Savignon. RUST EN VREDE was nominated as the first South African red wine in the Top 100 Wines of the World and repeated this achievement for four consecutive years.

Nelson Mandela also nominated RUST EN VREDE  as the Estate to serve the wine at the Noble Peace Prize dinner

Lunch is at the

GUARDIAN PEAK VINEYARD with the most amazing views over the wine country. A truly memorable experience

Next up we visit

KANONKOP VINEYARD  "where the  big guns roar !"  a premier Red wine producer and arguably the leading producer of South Africa's own  grape varietal Pinotage .  The Estate has been described by those in the know as being the South African equivalent of a Premier Cru or First Growth.

Our last tasting of the day will be at

OLDENBURG VINEYARD One of  the most picturesque vineyards in the Stellenbosch region (in fact the whole of South Africa ! ) Jaw dropping views over the mountains of this Estate tucked away in the valley is one that will remain with you for ever ! Not to mention the quality of their wines.

We leave the wine country late in the afternoon to follow the setting sun back to Cape Town
