Cradle of Humankind Day Tour
Take a look into the very distant past at the site widely regarded as where humankind originated, where the first homonid, Austalopithecus, was found in 1924. The Cradle of Humankind is a World Heritage Site and boasts Maropeng - a world class exhibition centre that focuses on human evolution over millions of years and the Sterkfontein Caves, the site of the most longstanding, palaeoanthropological dig in the world, renowned for it's fossil finds. Visitors can experience the wonder of the 10 million year old caves, formed by limestone and other sediments; and then learn about 'What it means to be human' at the exhibition centre, which showcases many interactive displays that help share the story of how humans evolved for hairy ape-like homonids to one of the most successful species on earth. Find out how you came to be by experiencing history as you've never seen or experienced before!
