Authentic and adventurous small group tour experience that you wont find anywhere else. Bee amazed and get a close taste off the honey bees. An unique experience 5 minutes off the N2 national road. A hot-spot for travelers passing by to add to their travel experience some sweetness. Real commercial beekeepers with real stories and insight will be your tour guides. Personalized attention is what you can expect. You will leave sweeter and more educated about how honey is made, all neatly wrapped up into a 1.5 hour +/- tour package.

Itinerary

Arriving at Apiarista we warmly welcome you with the drink of your choice and then you can start making your way towards our bee boma, where you will meet the tour guide. A brief introduction about the farm and what we will be doing will be explained. Then we will get onto the basic info session about the bees and their beehive. After the info session it is time to dress-up. This is fun and a real highlight for our visitors where the excitement starts to build up. After everyone is dressed up we light the smoker and take a short (300m) walk to the hives. Arriving at the hives with all the tools you will need, the tour guide explains and demonstrates the basics. Now it is time for you to crack open the beehive yourself surrounded by sometimes more than 50 thousand bees while you look for some sweet honey to harvest. After you find your sweet frame of treasure the tour guide takes you aside where you will as a group take the honey out from the frames and squeeze it into a big jar to take home. Back at the boma you will undress again and the tour guide will finish off the tour.
