• This is a private transfers only option and does not include accommodation at Sanbona.

Wake up to the roaring sounds of the African wildlife with an African Safari in one of the most exclusive Wildlife Reserves in the Western Cape. Sanbona Wildlife Reserve prides itself in being a malaria-free game reserve and is approximately 3-hours drive from Cape Town along the scenice R62 - the world's longest wine route. Set on 58000 hectares of Cape Fold Mountains, Sanbona is found in the heart of the Little Karoo and at the foot of the Warmwaterberg Mountains. Spot the Big Five animals at Sanbona Wildlife Reserve.

Day1

You will be picked up at your accommodation in Cape Town and surrounds at 8:00am and travel to Sanbona Wildlife Reserve. Guests are required to be at the Welcome Lounge at Sanbona by 12:00pm, and it is 3-hours, 30-minutes traveling time to get there. We will drive along the N1 through the Du Toit’s Kloof tunnel, joining the beautifully scenic Route 62 and then through the towns of Robertson, Ashton and Montagu before arriving a short while later at Sanbona Wildlife Reserve. The Route 62 is known as the longest Wine Route in the world. Upon arrival at the welcome lounge at 12:00pm, you will receive a refreshment before being transferred to your Game Lodge at Sanbona. Then you will be shown to the dining room for lunch. After lunch it is time to check-in at your accommodation. In the evening you will be taken for a game drive amid spectacular displays of light as the evening sun sets over the Little Karoo. Game drives are 3 - 3.5 hours and led by a qualified game ranger in a comfortable open Landcruiser 4x4 Truck. During the drive, you will be able to see many different species of plants, animals, big game and birds. Upon your return, you will be greeted with some pre-dinner drinks and a delicious dinner at the lodge before retiring for the night.

On the Game Drives, look out for The Big 5 – Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Elephant and Rhinoceros as well as Gemsbok, Springbok, Hartebeest, Eland, Kudu, Black Wildebeest and Zebra will be seen. Small game such as Jackal and Caracal can also be seen.

Sanbona Wildlife Reserve is a private reserve and cannot be compared to larger Safaris like Kruger National Park. Private Wildlife or Game Reserves have a limit to the amount of animals they are allowed to have on their game farm. It is not a zoo, but it is also not a national park.

Day 2

You will be treated to early morning breakfast and a 3-hour game drive. After your last game drive, you will depart your Game Lodge at Sanbona late morning and arrive back at the Welcome Lounge around midday. Your tour guide/driver will be waiting for you at the Lounge to transfer you back to Cape Town. On route to Cape Town we travel back along the R62, and guests are welcome to stop for a wine tasting or 2, or even lunch at any one of the many wine estates on this route in either Ashton, Robertson or Montague. The traveling time back to Cape Town is approximately 3-hours, 30-minutes, depending on whether you would like to stop along the way.
