Stop At: Hwaam Cave, 540 Hwaam-ri, Hwaam-myeon, Jeongseon, Gangwon-do, South Korea
Hwaamdonggul Cave, Gangwon Regional Monument No. 33, was originally a gold mine that was commercially operated from 1922 to 1945 as the nations fifth largest goldmine. However, the cave was found to have natural stalactites, and was later developed into the only theme-based cave that combined gold and nature. The stalactite area is an open space of 2,800㎡ and the length of the path open to visitors is 1,803 meters. The entire area consists of 5 sections which in turn constitute 41 zones; it takes about an hour and a half to see all of the zones. You can travel to the entrance of Hwaamdonggul Cave on Koreas first cave monorail listening to the soft piped-in music of Jeongseon Arirang. Hwaamdonggul Cave is not only a tourist attraction but also an educational venue where you can learn a lot about the subterranean ecology of a stalactite-lined cave and the process of gold mining and refining.

Stop At: Jeongseon Railbike, 745 Nochusan-ro, Yeoryang-myeon, Jeongseon, Gangwon-do, South Korea
The railbike in Jeongseon is a new type of leisure sport that combines biking along a railway and scenic views. Railbikes are commonly found in the mountainous regions of Europe. The sport makes use of an abandoned railway track that runs from Jeongseon's Auraji to Gujeol-ri. The total track is 7.2 kilometers long and is a continuous descent that is easy to ride along clean valley waters and crimson red foliage.
There are 2-person (110 kilograms) and 4-person railbikes (138 kilograms). Despite its large size, a railbike runs quite smoothly so it is sufficient for one person to pedal a 4-person railbike at speeds of 10 to 30 kilometers per hour.
At the boarding area in Gujeol-ri Station, there is a café named A Grasshoppers Dream. Housed in a train, the café is the shape of a grasshopper. The railbike starts in Gujeol-ri station and ends in Auraji Station. Ride at a slow speed of 15kph to enjoy the surrounding scenery. On the way back, you will return to Gujeol-ri on a free train for a comfortable ride with a view.

Stop At: Jeongseon Arirang Market, 39, Bongyang 7-gil, Jeongseon-eup, Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do 26130 South Korea
Jeongseon Arirang Market was a leader in agricultural markets across the country, drawing in close to 130,000 visitors per year in the early 1980s. However, with the rapid industrialization and migration of youth to the cities, the number of farmers have declined in recent years. Despite this decrease in workers, the stalls here still manage to sell all kinds of vegetables from Korean chili peppers to bellflower root to potatoes, garlic and more. Most of the produces for sale was harvested directly by the seller, providing fresh ingredients at low prices. Jeongseon Arirang Market is famous for medicinal herbs, with many tourists coming a long way to purchase these products. While many stalls are open throughout the week, the market becomes full and robust on official market days, taking place on all days ending in a 2 or 7.

Stop At: 민둥산억새꽃축제 무대, 784-2 Mureung-ri, Nam-myeon, Jeongseon, Gangwon-do, South Korea
Situated in Jeongseon (Gangwon-do), Mindungsan Mountain (1,118.8m) is an unusual site when compared to other national peaks. As its name indicates (bare mountain), there are few trees near its summit. Locals also refer to it as Eoksaesan (silver grass) Mountain because of the waves of Eulalia covering its sides. The mountain remains this way because villagers burned the fields once a year to encourage the growth of wild herbs.
The mountains gradual slope offers an enjoyable trekking experience for hikers of all levels. In mid-October, waist-high silver grass is indeed everywhere, making it challenging for hikers to view the surrounding areas. Fortunately, certain spots near the peak offer breathtaking views of the gentle ridges and flowing hillsides.
Silver grass begins blooming in September and reaches peak colors between October and November. The Silver Grass Festival is held on Mindungsan Mountain every October, attracting hundreds of thousands of attendees for a wonderful outdoor hiking experience and picturesque photo opportunities. The mountain is easily accessible by train allowing visitors from near and far to enjoy the fall colors.
On the outskirts of Mindungsan Mountain near Balgudeok village is Goebyeonggol Valley, which contains magnificent rock formations and limestone caves. Other nearby attractions include Hwaam Yaksu (spring water site), Auraji Naruteo famous for creating Jeongseon Arirang (a local version of the traditional folk song, Arirang), and Gariwangsan Mountain (known for wild ginseng).
