Become a Ceramist for a Day
BarroAzul was born thanks to Paula Felizón (anthropologist and ceramist) and Antonio Librero (art historian and cultural manager), who have been working in the world of artistic ceramics from the perspective of their different disciplines for years, and who after collaborating as documentalists for Centro Ceramica Triana, they decided to apply their knowledge and share it to all the visitors to Triana. We also have the collaboration of Honor Edgcombe, a nice British girl who brings her experience as a ceramist in several workshops of artistic creation.
Itinerary
From BarroAzul we offer a workshop in which we will tell you where the Seville pottery tradition comes from, what are the ceramic techniques practiced over centuries and whose fame has transcended our borders.
So, how do we do it?
Firstly we will tell you a little about the history of Seville ceramics. Next you will be given a practical demonstration of the main ceramic decoration techniques of Triana. You will be shown several of the oldest techniques of tile making 'Cuerda Seca', 'Arista' and 'Painted tile' and have a chance to paint with it yourself. Afterwards, you will decorate your very own tiles to take home with you.
You can take your tiles with you, but YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT AT LEAST 24 HOURS .
Our level of English is basic, please be patient with us.
