This famous area of Spain offers you sublime beaches to relax on, as well as inspiring things to discover, from popular celebrations to exquisite cuisine and medieval landmarks. This seven-day self-drive tour is a dream coastal vacation that promises an interesting encounter with history and culture while being caressed by the hot Spanish sun.

TOUR HIGHLIGHTS

Alicante: The capital of the Costa Blanca is a city of culture, nightlife and business. Its beaches, port, and promenade all form part of its charming identity.

Calpe: An authentic village with a fine coastline, hosting the remains of a salt factory built by the Romans.

Torrevieja: The charming town of Torrevieja is famous among locals and visitors for its salt lakes.

Lorca: The ‘city of 100 names’ is the most monumental place in the region featuring fascinating medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture.

Itinerary

Day 1: ARRIVAL ALICANTE

Pass By: Alicante Airport, 03195 L'Altet, Alacant, Spain
Arrive at Alicante airport, meet with a rent-a-car representative to assist you in picking up the rental car, and head towards the beautiful city. Places of interest include the Gothic 14th-century Basilica of Santa Maria, the Renaissance Cathedral of San Nicolas de Bari, built between the 15th and 17th centuries, as well as the Santa Faz monastery, in the Baroque style dating from the 15th century.

Day 2: ALICANTE – CALPE (65 Km – 50 min)

Begin your adventure after a delightful breakfast at the hotel and visit Calpe. Don’t forget to take a picture next to the impressive Peñon de Ifach, a gigantic rock reaching 332 metres high and a symbol of the Costa Blanca. You can visit the hermitage of El Salvador and Baños de la Reina, as well as the cove of Raco del Corb and La Fosca beach.

Day 3: CALPE

Day 5: TORREVIEJA

Check out inspiring places such as the Sea and Salt Museum, where you will learn about the historical fishing tradition of the city or the Mata Tower, built in the 14th century. Then, catch a glimpse of the famous Lagunas Natural Park, a protected area of about 3,700 hectares, known for its mesmerising lakes, the pink Torrevieja and the green La Mata.

Day 6: TORREVIEJA – LORCA (130 Km – 1,5 hrs)

Start your day with a tasty breakfast and then drive to the delightful city of Lorca. Known also as the ‘city of the sun’, this is one of the most monumental stops in the region, showcasing medieval, Renaissance and Baroque architecture. It has archaeological sites such as the Column Miliaria from the Roman times, numerous churches from the 13th and 14th centuries, as well as baroque palaces like the Guevara Palace. Stroll around the cobbled streets of Plaza de España and visit the charming castle of the city.

Day 7: LORCA – DEPART ALICANTE (145 Km – 1,5 hrs)

Indulge in a delicious breakfast and, at appropriate time, drive towards Alicante to drop off the car and catch your departure flight back home. The rent-a-car shuttle service will transfer you from the rental compaby to Alicante Airport.
