La Casa Del Rey Moro

It is located on Cuesta de Santo Domingo street. The first documentary evidence of this imposing house-palace dates back to the 18th century, although it has undergone frequent restructuring as a result of successive owner changes. The floor of the house is irregular and labyrinthine, with abundant stairs and corridors that serve to save the unevenness. The facade, of great length, adapts to the curve of the street and presents two towers of different height as well as two doors. In its interior the water catchment mine, of Arab origin, is conserved.

Visit: Casa Del Rey Moro, Calle Santo Domingo Savio 9, 29400 Ronda Spain

La Casa del Rey del Moro is a palace of s. XVIII in the city of Ronda, Malaga, where it houses in its interior a water catchment mine, of Arab origin, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 1943. It is a complex Islamic work that descends to the bottom of the Tagus where the GuadalevĂn River flows. It was built taking advantage of a natural vertical crack where a staircase carved into the rock with more than 200 steps and that descends vertically a hundred meters. In its interior a series of rooms are located, from cisterns to rooms, which were used as a powder keg and grain deposit. La casa del Rey del Moro that houses this Islamic work, the house can not be visited although the mine and its valuable terraced gardens are visited, with constant presence of water in fountains and channels, designed and built in 1923 by the prestigious architect and landscaper Forestier, of French origin, commissioned by the Duchess of Parcent. It is a garden on different levels, saved by stairs decorated with tiles and marked by fountains and ponds covered by water lilies.
