PRIVATE TOUR The Alhambra Nasrid Palaces Alcazaba and Generalife
Visiting the interiors of The Alhambra is already an unparalleled experience, but it is even more so if you are accompanied by a Tour Guide who helps you travel through time by visiting the most spectacular places of this fascinating monument.
The Alhambra was declared a World Heritage Site in 1984. Its name comes from the color of its walls (Al-Hamra in Arabic) that were made with the clay of the land, hence its reddish color.
The origins of The Alhambra date back to the 9th century, when the Alcazaba began to be used as a refuge. It was in the thirteenth century when the first Nasrid king, Mohamed I, fixed his royal residence there. His successor, Mohamed II, finished the walled enclosure.
The Alhambra was abandoned in the eighteenth century. During the French domination part of the fortress was blown up and until the 19th century its repair, restoration and conservation, which still remains, was not begun.
