Pyrenees-Costa Brava Bike Tour

We have planned this trip for those who love cycling and want to spend a week pedalling, across part of Catalonia, from the Pyrenees to the Costa Brava, along secondary roads and through amazingly beautiful landscapes.

The first part of our tour focuses on the magnificent area of the Pyrenees and pre-Pyrenees and is of moderate difficulty. Here we will have the chance to discover some works belonging to the Catalan Romanesque period.

The second part of the route runs along green tracks and is low difficulty, taking us straight to the Costa Brava. The route runs through La Garrotxa, the famous volcanic area in Catalonia, and stops in Girona city, with its wonderful old town, full of narrow streets that take us back to the middle ages.

During the entire route, we will enjoy the local gastronomy and its people.

Day 1 - Welcome to Catalonia. Our trip starts in Barcelona, the meeting point will be at Estación de Francia at 10.00 am, from where we will depart towards our destination, the Pyrenees. The trip will take about 2 hours. Once in the mountains we'll do a briefing of the routes and preparation of the bikes. After that we will have lunch and you will have the afternoon free to stroll, discover the magnificent place por enjoy the first bike ride around the area.

Day 2 - Puigcerda - Ripoll. Today we will start heading towards Costa Brava along inland roads with hardly any traffic. We will leave the hotel and head towards La Molina ski resort, then we’ll head to Pla de Anyella, enjoying its spectacular meadows along the way! The next stop will be coll de la Creueta, a category 1 pass and scenario of numerous stages of the Spanish Vuelta, but we’ll cover the distance downhill. We will continue cycling along the road from Montgrony to Gombren, Campdevànol and Ripoll, which will be the end of the day’s stage, where we will spend the night.

Day 3 - Ripoll - Olot. Today the road will take us from

Ripoll to

Olot, where we will take the “Carrilet” road until

Sant Joan de les Abadesses, known for its impressive Romanesque monastery and an interesting old town! From

Sant Joan de las Abadesses we will head towards

Olot along the

coll de Santigossa, a secondary road with very little traffic and a scenery of leafy forests.

Day 4 - Olot-Girona. Route from

Olot to Girona along the green track, and crossing the volcanic region of La Garrotxa, with its spectacular landscapes! We will continue through the valley of the Burgent river until La Cellera, where we will meet the Ter river again and will following its course. The route continues through small charming villages until

Girona, where we will stay the night.

Day 5 - Girona - Sant Feliu de Guixols. We will arrive at our destination today, from Girona to the coast, along the green track of the Carrilet. This track has been designed for cyclists and hikers only. We will arrive at

Sant Feliu de Guixols, with its magnificent port of a great historical and cultural interest. A day to enjoy the real Costa Brava and its beautiful beaches and landscapes!
