Valencia best food scene and history

Hola soy Viviana! I have a huge pssion for food & culture and I love to share it with everyone visiting my gorgeous city! What better way is there to explore the city’s hidden gems & history than by following a passionate local foodie? During this unique 3 hours walking tour, we explore the main historic sites and gastronomic delights of Valencia's old town - There is much more than just paella!
- Indulge in the most iconic tapas bar in town, sipping on a classic Spanish aperitif
-Taste a freshly made, traditional Valencian drink, rarely found elsewhere
-Visit the fabulous Central Market – one of the biggest in Europe. Taste your way around and learn about the ingredients of authentic Spanish recipes
-I'll tell you everything about the fascinating world of Spanish tapas in family run eateries, where there is history, passion and love in every recipe!

We’ll start at 10:30am at the cathedral with an introduction to the old town. Then we’ll walk to a traditional café nearby, to taste freshly made horchata. You’ll learn how this unique Valencian drink is made, and how to drink it like a local paired with a delicious light and fluffy pastry called a farton.

After breakfast, on the way to the Central Market, we’ll explore the old part of the city with its colourful buildings, beautiful squares, and you’ll get to feel the great vibe of the area!

At our third stop, we’ll visit a city landmark that’s almost a hundred years old; the incredible Central Market. Here you’ll learn about the most traditional Valencian dishes, taste the best Spanish ham (acorn fed Iberian ham), as well as artisanal Spanish sheep’s cheese.

While in the market we’ll join the locals at a small farm-to-table tapas bar, to sample the house special – a gourmet sandwich made with delicious Iberian pork loin, mouth-watering sheep’s cheese and a secret homemade sauce! Be ready to become a Spaniard!

On the way to the next mouthwatering experience, you’ll see one of the most emblematic buildings in the old town — La Lonja — and a few other cultural gems.

We’ll then head to one of the very best, traditional tapas bars, which is well-loved by Valencians. Open since 1946, it has always specialised in freshly grilled fish. While having some tapas l'll give you all the tips and tricks to enjoy tapas like a local.

At the end of our food journey I'll introduce you to an 'ultramarinos', a type of store/tapas bar where, traditionally, locals could find products which came from overseas after the discovery of America. Having a drink and a quick bite to eat while shopping, was common in these places. While here, you’ll sample delectable, mouth-watering Spanish croquetas (made with acorn fed ham) while sipping the most authentic Spanish aperitif. It’s the perfect final treat for your taste buds!

There is so much more incredible food to taste in the city! At the end of the tour i will give you more invaluable suggestions and tips to eat your way around during your stay in Valencia. Don’t miss out!
