Minneriya is the site of "the Gathering" where in August more than 400 elephants gather in an awesome spectacle. The dry season from May to September is reckoned to be the best time to visit.

​You will be able to have a personal encounter with this enormous creature of Sri Lanka , the wild elephant. When you are lucky you won't need to enter the parks to view elephants as they freely roam the countryside.
