Day 1: Pick up and Drive To Sigiriya

Stop At: Minneriya National Park, Maradankadawala-Habarana-Thirukkondaiadimadu Highway, Minneriya 50150 Sri Lanka
If you want to view elephants in huge numbers, Minneriya National Park is the answer. It is a shelter to many flora and fauna including, sambar deer, buffalo, and crocodiles. This park is a treat to the eyes and therefore is a must-visit when in Sri Lanka.

Built by King Mahasen, Minneriya Tank is useful for irrigation and agriculture. As the tank was very purposeful to the locals they named the King, Minneri Deviyo meaning God of Minneriya. A dam is built by Minneria River to build this Tank.
