Explore Old Taipei's Hidden Food Gems

Eat like a true Taipei local by going on this 2 hour gastronomic walking tour. We will learn about Taipei Wanhua's rich, dangerous and fantastically dramatic history as we explore down the hidden alleys and taste the neighbourhood's favourite local haunts. Skip the tourist traps and unnecessary lines as you find out where the real, longstanding hot spots are. By joining on our tour, you will be supporting the local businesses and residents of Wanhua, a proud, historical neighbourhood of Taipei. All food tastings are included in the tour! Come hungry and be ready to try some new food!

Be prepared to explore your tastebuds by visiting some of the oldest institutions of Taipei's time tested stalls. We will first meet at Longshan Temple and embark on our 2 hour walking tour through the winding alleyways and narrow market streets of Wanhua. We will wander our way through an old Japanese colonial traditional marketplace and see locals do their daily grocery shopping, while dining on our seasonal tropical fruits. We will then make our way to the BoPiLiao historic neighbourhood, a well preserved piece of history, while munching on one of the city's best deep fried pork.

Next we will pass by one of the first public elementary school in Taiwan to make our way to the oldest surviving ice cream parlour of Taipei. Try deliciously Taiwanese flavoured scoops that Taipei locals have enjoyed since 1945. We will also try the world famous gua bao (Chinese hamburger). Not full yet? Don't worry, the tour will take a turn into one of the oldest parts of Taipei with a wonderfully scandalous and violent past. Rich with history and food, we will hop around a multitude of stalls trying out various traditional desserts such as mochi, red bean cakes and potato jelly noodles. We will take you through the former red light district of Taipei and finally make our way back to Longshan temple with a belly filled with food, and hopefully a new appreciation for Taipei's rich history of Chinese fusion food.
