DAY 1: ARRIVE IN DAR ES SALAAM. On arrival at Mwalimu Nyerere International Airport youll meet our tour guide and head to your hotel where you can relax and recover from your journey. You will spend an overnight stay on full board basis at the hotel.
DAY 2: TRANSFER TO SELOUS GAME RESERVE. Well have an early breakfast and leave to Selous game reserve at 07h. Selous game reserve is Africa largest game reserve and to date is one of the best kept secrets among Africas tourism connoisseurs. The expansive vastness of Selous game reserve gives a feeling of being the only one in the area, unlike the Zoo-like parks in the northern part of Tanzania. Its meandering rivers and lakes are the lifeblood to a game reserve that hosts phenomenal volumes of fauna and flora; including Africas largest elephants, buffalos, hippos, crocodiles, wild dogs and lion prides. Its a paradise for bird watchers. The journey will take 6 hours through the most unexplored and untouched areas of Tanzania. Enjoy our packed lunch on the way and upon arrival in Selous. After lunch and a rest, we will be having an evening boat cruise along the mighty Rufiji River which brings you into close contact with hippos, crocodiles and fantastic birdlife. Crocodiles glide into the water as your boat approaches and hippo appear in frightening proximity, grunting and blowing steam. DAY 3: FULL DAY GAME DRIVE IN SELOUS GAME RESERVE. Enjoy a full day game viewing in the reserve. Participate in a number of exclusive style game drives exploring the bush in 4x4 vehicles. During the game drives, one might be lucky to see a pack of African wild dogs even though are becoming extinct in most parts of Africa; they are thriving in the Selous. Just bear in mind that the Selous Game Reserve is larger than Switzerland and Denmark and has the largest population of elephant in Tanzania as well as large quantity of buffalos, hippos and wild dogs. Visitors expect to see Lions, Elands, Cape bushbucks, Giraffes, Impalas, Baboons, Zebras, Crocodiles and Greater kudus just to name but a few. DAY 4: WALKING SAFARI THEN TRANSFER TO MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK. The walking safari starts as early as 06h30. The crispy fresh African air mixed with the wild waft of the animals evokes your sense of smell to the intoxication unique bush odors of Africa. This allows you to get a real feel of the African bush. The sights, sounds and smells of a walking safari are a special treat that will live a long in your memory. The thrill of being close up to the animals and to shoot them with your camera is one of the greatest unforgettable experiences one carries back to the civilized world. Thereafter back to the Lodge for breakfast and drive to Mikumi National Park. We arrive in the late afternoon take dinner and stay for overnight on full board basis. at Faru luxury tented campsite
DAY 5: FULL DAY IN GAME DRIVE IN MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK. On this day, we will be having a full day of a game drive around Mikumi Park. The beautiful plains, surrounding mountains and hills bring compelling natural beauty with addition to excellent light; make it a wonderful venue for wildlife photographers. There is a rich variety of bird species as well as large numbers of Giraffes, Buffaloes and Elephants and close to the water holes along with tree-climbing Lions, Leopards, Black-backed jackals and Hippos. Furthermore look forward to see Zebras, Wildebeest, Elephants, Impala, Warthog, Eland and other Antelopes. Several observation towers enable you to overview the park in its entirety. DAY 6: UDZUNGWA MOUNTAINS HIKE THEN TO IRINGA TOWN. Leave the lodge after breakfast then transfer to Udzungwa Mountains National Park which takes about 1:30hrs. Then check in at the gate and head out to the Sanje waterfalls, which is a 3 to 4 hours trek through the green forest. Expect to see Monkeys, including rare indigenous Iringa red colabus monkeys, and some ancient trees; some of them are 200 years old! There are no roads inside the park, but there are plenty of walks of varying length and difficulty to explore beneath the canopy rainforest and cascading mountain streams. Explore tropical forests until the late afternoon when we depart to Iringa town where we will take dinner and overnight stay on full board basis.
DAY 7: TRANSFER TO RUAHA NATIONAL PARK AND SUNSET DRIVE. Meet our tour guide and the safari jeep at your hotel and then depart to Ruaha National Park with lunch upon arrival. This will be followed by checking into your rooms then a late afternoon game drive along the Great Ruaha River. You will view the sunset and activities of variety of animal species such as Elephants, Giraffes, Gazelles, Kudus, Impalas also Birds and take in the scenery until 6:30pm before driving back for dinner and your overnight stay on a full board basis. Note that Ruaha has 10% of all lions living worldwide.
DAY 8: FULL DAY SAFARI IN RUAHA NATIONAL PARK. The day will begin with an early morning game drive, starting at sunrise and going through to breakfast. After breakfast there will be a drive through various habitats with a variety of animals, birds and more stunning scenery of the Mwagusi Sand River as well as the Mdonya River. Stop for some lunch in the bush followed by further game viewing until sunset. Enjoy your dinner and the night stay on the full board basis.
DAY 9: WALKING SAFARI OR SUNRISE DRIVE IN RUAHA NATIONAL PARK. Early in the morning we take a walking safari to explore the park and its nature. The focus on a walk is to take in the smaller details of the bush, tracking animals by their footprints, stopping to admire birdlife in the trees, and watching smaller creatures and their behaviors without the noise and disturbance of a vehicle. Larger herds such as Elephant and Buffalo may be encountered too but worry not since you have the professional tour guide that will instruct you on how to behave in order to remain safe around these larger animals. After the tour we get back to the Lodge for leisure and lunch. In the evening we meet Maasai people to experience their culture where we will be enjoying their traditional dances, history, daily lives style and finish up with Nyamachoma (barbeque). After the tour we drive back to Iringa for dinner and stay for overnight on full board basis.
DAY 10: BIKE TO IGELEKE ROCK PAINTINGS AND THE GANGILONGA ROCK.
After a scrumptious morning breakfast then we take bikes to the Rock paintings in Igeleke hills for an orientation on the GPSs, African technology with Hehe beliefs from 40,000 years ago to the present. Afterwards your guide will lead you to the Gangilonga rock (means talking stone in Hehe word) is the large rock found northeast of Iringa town. This is where Chief Mkwawa (the leader of Hehe people found in Iringa) meditated and he learned that the rock could send a message to his community in 1890s. We will stop for lunch, a nap and later drive to Isimila Stone Age site and earth pillars where you will discover the uses of stone tools and see different excavations and research from different Universities and institutions all over the world. Enjoy your dinner and stay overnight on full board basis.
DAY 11: GIFT SHOPPING AND TRANSFER TO THE AIRPORT. Depending on your flight time the driver will drop you to the airport where you can catch your flight back to your next destination.
