Itinerary

Day 1: Kilimanjaro Airport to Moshi

Pass By: Mount Kilimanjaro, Mt Kilimanjaro, Tanzania
Arrive in Kilimanjaro and transfer to your Hotel in Moshi. Evening we will brief about the climb and review the gear you have brought to make sure nothing additional is needed.

Day 2: Machame Camp

Pass By: Machame, Machame, Kilimanjaro Region
(9,927 feet/3,026 m), 7 miles/11 Km (5 to 7 hours)
We will pick you up at the hotel in Moshi after breakfast and drive about an hour to the Machame gate where the trek starts. From the Machame Park gate, it's a gentle climb up through the dense rainforest to the Machame Camp.

Day 3: Shira Camp

Pass By: Shira Camp, Tanzania
(12,355 feet/3,766 m), 3 miles/5 km (4 to 6 hours)
The morning starts with a personal introduction to your trekking team. The hike is different today as the jungle gives away to zones of giant heather and moorland. If you have enough time you take a short hike to the Shira Caves after reaching camp

Day 4: Barranco Camp

Pass By: Shira Camp One, Tanzania
(13,066 feet/3,983 m), 6 miles/10 Km (5 to 8 hours)
Leaving Shira camp in the morning you climb towards the main peak Kibo, with the western glaciers clearly visible across the rugged high-altitude desert of volcanic rocks and boulders. The trail ascends to the Lava Tower site (15000 feet / 4600m) before descending back down into Barranco Valley. Its 6 to 7 hours walking and the total ascent is only 110m total but having climbed much higher and dropped back down assists acclimatization.

Day 5: Barafu High Camp

Pass By: Barafu Camp, Tanzania
(15,239 feet/4,645 m), 5 miles/9 km (5 to 8 hours)
The day starts with a challenging climb up the steep Barranco wall (some scrambling but not technically difficult) before dropping into the Karanga Valley where you take a break for lunch. If you decide to add an extra day it will be spent at Karanga Camp. Those on the regular itinerary will continue after lunch to Barafu Hut having hiked a total of 5 to 8 hours and ascended 650m. This is the highest camp and the push to the summit will begin at 11 pm when you start getting your gear ready.

Day 6: Uhuru Peak Altitude

Pass By: Uhuru Peak, Tanzania
(5895 m/19340 ft) Walking Distance: 3 miles/5 km ascent + 7 miles / 12 Km descent (10-16 hours)
The day starts at midnight with the final push to the summit. It's a cold and grueling six-hour hike to summit rim up a steep slope. The trail is doable but steep with many switchbacks. The summit rim is reached just about sunrise and it's a fairly level hike around the rim to Uhuru Peak the ultimate summit and highest point in Africa. Going down you will head back to Barafu Hut for a short nap and snacks before continuing down to Mweka camp (3068m / 10,065feet). One of the reasons for such a long day of trekking is to avoid problems with acclimatization and get you back down to a lower elevation quickly.

Day 7: Mweka Camp to Moshi

Pass By: Moshi, Moshi, Kilimanjaro Region
From Mweka campsite it is a 4 to 5 hours descent through the forest to Mweka gate to collect certificates and meet the vehicle. Return to Moshi for the night and to have a final farewell dinner with your guides before you head out on your safari.

Day 8: Moshi to Tarangire National Park

Pass By: Tarangire National Park, Tarangire National Park, Arusha Region
We depart Moshi in the morning, and head for Tarangire National Park, where you will begin your first game drive before midday. Lunch will be served under the mighty Boabob trees after you enter the park and catch your first glimpses of the wildlife and spectacular scenery. After lunch, make your way through the park snapping photos of the zebra, giraffe, and elephant that call this area their home. After a full afternoon of game drives, head to your campsite for dinner and a night under the stars.

Day 9: Tarangire National Park to Serengeti National Park

Pass By: Serengeti National Park, Serengeti National Park
There was a reason that "The Lion King" creators drew their inspiration from the Serengeti, and today you will get to discover why. Renowned for its' large lion population, this may be the best opportunity to get a great view of a Lion Pride in their natural habitat, as the gazelles, zebras, and buffalo are abundant in this region. Come during the right season, and witness the birth of the wildebeest calves, where they will begin their annual migration to Kenya at the end of May. Lunch will be served in the park, and after a full day of games drives your campsite awaits

Day 10: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater

Pass By: Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Arusha Region
After a hearty breakfast and morning game drive in the Serengeti, we make our way to the infamous Ngorongoro Crater, the world's largest inactive volcanic caldera. An abundance of wildlife graces this infamous area, known worldwide for its' stunning landscape. Enjoy spotting a multitude of different species, from elephants, hippos, and giraffes to the majestic Crater Lions and ravenous hyenas. After a short glimpse of the crater, we wind our way upwards as we head to our campsite on top of the crater rim.

Day 11: Ngorongoro Crater

Pass By: Ngorongoro Crater, Ngorongoro Conservation Area Tanzania
After breakfast, we descend back into the crater for an early morning game drive, hoping the cool morning air allows us to see some active wildlife. As the temperatures rise, we may head to the hippo pool to see these spectacular creatures enjoying a dip to beat the heat. As lunch approaches, we make our way to the picnic site on the lake, taking in the spectacular views and a bite to eat before you head out on the final game drive. After our last glimpse of the park, we head towards the crater rim for another overnight at our campsite.

Day 12: Lake Manyara National Park

Pass By: Lake Manyara National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Arusha Region
After your breakfast, head to Lake Manyara National Park for a morning game drive before lunch. With over 400 species of birds, including the flamingos famous for making this park their home, this is an ideal park for the bird aficionado. If we are lucky, we may be able to spot a lazy leopard lounging in a tree, waiting for his next meal, which is all but guaranteed with the variety of species living by the lake. After our final afternoon game drive, we head back to Moshi Town for your next adventure.

Day 13: Departure Day

After breakfast, according to your flight time, we will drop you at the airport or assist you in catching the shuttle to Nairobi. End of our services.
