5 Days Wildebeest Mara River Crossing

The Mara River, located in the northern Serengeti and Masai Mara, is the most famous and popular river crossing among tourists. The Masai Mara migration sees wildebeests crossing the river heading north to enter the Masai Mara National Reserve. Once there, they relax only briefly before crossing the river once again, this time to head south back to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro conservation area. The northbound crossing takes place in July to September, and the southbound crossing occurs in October to November.
Furthermore to the mysterious Ngorongoro Crater a landscape like no other on earth, that offers vast views over a beautiful natural sanctuary where wildlife encounters lie around every corner.

Itinerary

Day 1: ARRIVAL AT NORTHERN SERENGETI

Stop At: Serengeti National Park, Serengeti National Park
On this day of your arrival our Driver/Guide will pick you at Northern Serengeti Kogatende airstrip. After meet and greet you will be transferred to your tented camp for some refreshments and a hot lunch. After a short time of relaxation begin your afternoon adventure exploring the vast plains of the Northern Serengeti. Be mesmerized with the wildebeest crossing the Mara river, this great show on earth will astound you. Take your time and enjoy your game drive and in the evening return for dinner and overnight at your Tented Camp.

Day 2: FULL DAY NORTHERN SERENGETI/ KOGATENDE

Stop At: Serengeti National Park, Serengeti National Park
Early morning game drive to see also nocturnal predators returning from hunting and animals waking up in early morning light followed by full day Serengeti national park tour putting you in a position to see lots of the animals. In many cases migration crossing the Mara River is taking place around Serengeti and at that particular time millions of wildebeest and zebra are mingling together followed by predators. Afternoon, return to the Camp site for hot lunch (OPTION you can either decide to depart with packed lunches or return for hot lunch) and some rest before embarking for a game drive till evening. Return for Dinner and overnight enjoying a calm evening weather and a sky full of stars.

Day 3: NORTHERN SERENGETI/KOGATENDE SIGHTING THE MIGRATION

Stop At: Serengeti National Park, Serengeti National Park
-0730 Hrs. After your breakfast; depart from your lodge/Camp for game drive in Serengeti National Park/Kogatende. You will get a chance to see a huge number of the wildebeest migrating. Kogatende area is at the Northern Serengeti Park.
-From In mid-June to December, Thousands and thousands of wildebeest are concentrated in the northern part and some cross towards Masai Mara in Kenya in search for water and pastures.
-Stop at the Picnic Site for Picnic Lunch,
-Afternoon game in Serengeti. Return in the evening for dinner and overnight at Your Lodge.

Day 4: SERENGETI TO NGORONGORO CRATER

Stop At: Ngorongoro Crater, Ngorongoro Conservation Area Tanzania
After breakfast with your packed lunch drive game en route to Ngorongoro Crater, Descend into the Crater for 8 hours Crater tour. This 100 square mile natural Amphitheatre is a host to an astonishing array of wildlife. The Crater once a gigantic volcano is the largest intact caldera in the world.The Ngorongoro Crater Conservation area is home to more than 30 000 protected animals. It is an area of spectacular beauty and excellent game viewing, a truly unique safari destination in Africa. When you lucky enough you may be able to see rhino, elephant, lion, buffalo as well as large herd’s zebras and wildebeest. A picnic lunch will be taken in to the Crater. Later in the evening drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: FAREWELL TRANSFER TO SERONERA AIRSTRIP

Stop At: Kogatende Airstrip, Tanzania
As we are about to bid our farewells take a short stroll around your Lodge in Ngorongoro relish yourself to the beautiful view of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After your hot breakfast pack your bags for your transfer to Seronera airstrip in Serengeti for your flight back home. Enjoy one last beautiful game en route to Serengeti as you drive along to the airstrip.
