Lemosho route is a premium trek designed for six to eight days. Climbing through different climate zones its starts on heaths and winds further across alpine meadows to ascend to the artic zone near uhuru peak. The descent, in turn passes through rainforest. All this make this route scenic on Kilimanjaro.

Lemosho offers smoothest acclimatization and highest success rates of 85%, 90% and 95% for 7 and 8 days tours respectively. The total distance covered on lemosho routes are 46 km [ 28.5 miles]

Itinerary

Day 1: Lemosho Glades 2100m – Big Tree Camp – 7kms – 3 hours – Altitude gain 700m

Stop At: Lemosho Glades, Tanzania
Pick up at the lodge and transfer to Lemosho gate to start your trek. Leave in the morning from Moshi to Londorossi village were gate is located. The start of trail 2100m trek winds up through the lush forest zone on to the lower slopes of the northern side, going to Shira Plateau

Day 2: Big Tree 2800m –Shira Camp 2 – 14kms – 8 to 9hrs – Altitude gain 1050m

Stop At: Big Tree Camp, Tanzania
Trek to Shira 2 Hut walking through the fine open moorlands
Duration: 1 day

Day 3: Shira Camp 2 3850m — Barranco Camp – 10kms – 6 to 7hrs – Altitude gain 700m, down 600m

Stop At: Shira Camp Two, Lemosho Rte, Tanzania
A long trek to Barranco. This camp lies in a sheltered area below the remarkable cliffs of the Breach wall. The Breach wall, the dome of Uhuru and the edge of the Heim Glacier dominate the head of the valley.

Day 4: Barranco Camp 3950m - Karanga Valley Camp - 6kms - 3-4hrs - gain 250m down 250m

Stop At: Barranco Camp, Tanzania
Acclimatization Day. The trek continues from Baranco to Karanga valley.

Day 5: Karanga Camp 3963m — Barafu Camp 4kms – 3 to 4hrs – Altitude gain 650m

Stop At: Karanga Camp, Mweka Trail, Tanzania
In the morning trek to Barafu. Huge glaciers and cliffs can be seen which mark this part of the mountain. Here is the last water point.

Day 6: Barafu Camp 4600m — UHURU PEAK 5895m — Millennium Camp 19km -12 to 14hrs – Altitude gain 1295m down 2105m

Stop At: Barafu Camp, Tanzania
At midnight the trek begins up to the final steep, scree section to reach Stella Point. Walk steadily up the ridge and about the crater to reach Uhuru peak at 5895m

Day 7: Millennium Camp 3730m — Mweka Gate 1800m – 13kms – 5 to 6hrs – Descend 1650m Pick up at Mweka gate and transfer tohotel.

Stop At: Millenium Camp, Tanzania
Covering the last section of the mountain, the trek continues down through the forests to the gate where your vehicle will be waiting to transport you back to Moshi.
