Social Impact Tours

By participating in a Social Impact Tour through The Small Things, you are truly making an impact. The small donation that we ask for, goes 100% directly to our children, families and programs. None goes towards administrative fees or salaries. For example, $10 can pay for art supplies for a class at the daycare. $25 can feed one of our children for two weeks. $75 can help an outreach family start a business. $200 can cover all of the living costs for a child for a month in residential care. This is a unique opportunity to help us help vulnerable children and families in Tanzania. Your donation has a REAL impact.

You also have the opportunity to meet with people from the local community, learn about what their lives are like, and help to empower them! Once you arrive and see the smiles on our kids' faces you will not ever want to leave! Plus, you have the chance to tour a luscious environment surrounded by mountains, bananas, avocados, and coffee.

Stop At: The Small Things, Tanzania

Come and experience Tanzanian culture outside of your safari! The Small Things (TST) is an ethical 501c non-profit organization located in Nkoaranga Village, about 30 minutes from Arusha. The Small Things integrates high-quality, loving, community-based residential care with a comprehensive family preservation program. That means keeping children in homes where they belong, caring for them when their families can’t and helping reunite them with relatives after leaving our care We invite you to experience TST and Nkoaranga with our Social Impact Tour, which is centered around ethical and respectful cultural tourism. These tours are designed to have minimal impact on the community, foster intercultural relationships, and teach you more about our organization! This is a chance for you to help us help vulnerable families and children in rural Tanzania.

>Meet, play with, and teach a lesson to the children at our daycare!
>Tour our social enterprise studio, which supports empowering local youth, learn to make Tanzanian jewelry and buy some!
>See the Happy Family Children's Village, our offices, and community library.
>Visit Mama Max, one of our business program graduates and learn how she empowered herself and created a better life for herself and her family. She usually prepares a snack while we chat and is one of the funniest women in the community.

Our Social Impact Tours can be arranged by mostly walking to fully take in the gorgeous climate and environment on the slopes of Mt Meru, or by vehicle for a little speedier process.

Note: for the protection of our most vulnerable children, we cannot permit interaction and visits with our residential children within their homes. If you would like to, consider volunteering or sponsoring a child to build meaningful and lasting relationships with them.
