About 200 years ago the Maasai arrived and have since colonized the Area in substantial numbers, their traditional way of life allowing them to live in harmony with the wildlife and the environment. Today there are some 42,200 Maasai pastoralists living in the NCA with their cattle, donkeys, goats and sheep. During the rains they move out on to the open plains; in the dry season they move into the adjacent woodlands and mountain slopes. The Maasai are allowed to take their animals into the Crater for water and grazing, but not to live or cultivate there. Elsewhere in the NCA they have the right to roam freely.

Itinerary

Day 1: Tarangire National park

Stop At: Babati, tanzania, Tarangire National Park 3134 Tanzania
You will see the Tarangire River with Baobab trees all along the river-banks. This is a well established view point, where game can be viewed ambling to and from the river throughout the day. Wildlife like Elephants, Zebra, Giraffe, Dik Dik and Ostrich and other species of birds can be seen in this park. In the evening we will drive back to karatu at Eileen tree inn

Day 2: Ngorongoro Creter

Stop At: Ngorongoro Crater, Ngorongoro Conservation Area Tanzania
Descent into the Crater with picnic lunches for full day game drive tour around the Lerai Acacia Forest and the crater floor, looking for giant-tusked elephant, rare black rhino and the black-maned lion, and many other animal, Later in the evening ascend the crater rim through verdant Montana forest
