Discover Cappadocia In 2-Days From Istanbul

Prepare yourself to travel back in time, and prepare your mind to wander between the images of ancient people and the breath taking beauty of the landscape. First day visit to the underground city and Ihlara valley; second day Göreme open air museum, Paşabağ (monks valley) and Imagination valley will be the highlights of your itinerary.

Cappadoccia was an object of desire to men, even before it was mentioned in the Holy Bible. Once the capital of the powerful Hittite empire, later a refuge for early Christians; it is a land of magic, a region of exceptional natural wonders (in particular characterized by fairy chimneys) and a unique historical and cultural heritage. Prepare yourself to travel back in time, and prepare your mind to wander between the images of ancient people and the breath taking beauty of the landscape.

Day 1

Your vehicle will be waiting for you for an early morning transfer to the airport. Following the flight to Kayseri city, you will travel to Cappadoccia region by driving within the escort of the English speaking guide.The first step will be Derinkuyu Underground City which is the biggest of the region with its 12 stations under the ground. On the way to Ihlara Valley, the Crater Lake, Nar Golu, will greet you with its magnificent scenery. Upon arrival at Ihlara Valley, 14 Km long and some places 140m deep with 4000 carved caves, start exploring the deep canyon by walking through the valley (4km). Then reach to Belisırma village for the lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch we drive to end of Ihlara Valley to watch the magnificent view and visit Selime Rock-Cut Monastery. Then leave Ihlara Valley behind and drive to hotel via Selime village.

Day 2

Breakfast will be served at the hotel, before leaving for the Göreme Valley. Turks have a legend that explains the etymology of the name as: “Gör, Emi (see it for sure)”. This is not without a reason, for this is the important site of the region. The valley is home to rock churches and monasteries, going back as much as to 2nd century AD, which are richly decorated with colourful frescoes by exiled Christians in Roman era.

The wonders will then continue with the amazing panoramic view that you will enjoy at the natural citadel of Uçhisar. You will witness the poetry, written through the ages on the soft volcanic rock by the no other than the elements of the nature. The wind and the rain have worked together to create a surreal, almost lunar landscape; a scene of pillars and cones and, of course, the unique fairy chimneys.

After having lunch at an authentic restaurant, short walk through out Zelve - Paşabağ where you will find the most interesting fairy chimneys and possible to see the first example of monk’s chapel. Visit to Avanos for traditional handicraft as pottery manufacturing by Hittite technique and Tiles & Plates. Then head to Devrent Valley (Fairy Valley) for a close witness to fairy chimneys. After visit the wine factory and taste of delicious Cappadocian wines, stop for characteristic fairy chimneys in Ürgüp. Then transfer to the Kayseri Airport to fly back to Istanbul and transfer to your hotel.
