Hagia Sophia, was constructed by the Byzantines between 532-537 A.D. and was the biggest church of the Byzantine Empire. When Constantinople fell to the Ottoman Empire, it was converted into a mosque. Now itÂ’s a museum and constantly busy with visitors who come to admire its impressive dome and glittering mosaics.

With its stunning dome and six minarets, the Sultanahmet Mosque-better known to foreigners as the Blue Mosque- forms an impressive feature of the Istanbul skyline, was built in Ottoman era in 1616 and is still being used as a mosque.
