St Nicholas Church in Demre and Cruise to Kekova Island from Antalya

Visit a places of ancient Myra and Demre where the real Saint Nicholas used to live and work. On this trip with lunch included in a price, you will bust all the myths related to the Saint Nicholas and we will go for a cruise on the sea to sunken Atlantida – Kekova Island.

You will start the journey on a beautiful, however, switchback route along the Mediterranean Sea shores. You will stop for a short break in the mountains, where you will be able to admire the panorama view of Kumluca city that is famous for tomato production. While passing by the Kumluca, you will see a statue of the tomato. Then there is a Finike – famous ancient sea port.

After arriving at Myra you will see great remains of the ancient world of the Lycian. You will be surprised by the size and beauty of the necropolis – a group of tombs sculpted in the stones. Nearby the necropolis, there is a beautiful ancient theater.

The bishop of Myra in the IV century was St. Nicholas, who was fighting with heathendom and introducing Christianity in Turkey. You will visit his church in Demre full of colorful frescos, where the sarcophagus of St. Nicholas is located. On the territory surrounding the church there are 3 different monuments of the saint.

After a lunch in a local restaurant, we will ride (about 30 min) to the Ucagiz pier, from which we will head for a one hour cruise to the sunken Kekova Island. The island, as a result of an earthquake, was divided into a few smaller islands. We will go down both the smaller and larger islands on which you will see ruins of the ancient buildings, fortresses, theaters and even some sarcophagi on the water. The boat will have a glass  bottom through which you will be able to see the outline of the harbor and numerous amphora's. Weather permitting, you will be able to swim in the beautiful gulf. After arriving back to the port you will head to the hotel with the provided ground transportation.
