Saint Vladimir Cathedral is one of the most beautiful temples in Kiev. It was built in the 19th century to commemorate the 900th anniversary of Russian baptizing.

It was the main gate in the 11th-century fortifications of Kiev, the capital of Kievan Rus. The name ‘Golden Gates’ originates from the beauty of this building and not from the material it is made of.

The next stop is St. Michael's Cathedral. The grandson of Yaroslav the Wise, Prince Sviatopolk, founded the cathedral in the early 12th century. It is named in honor of St. Michael - the protector of Kiev.
