Stop At: Bakota/ Submerged Settlement and Remains of Ancient Cave Monastery, Kamianets-Podilskyi Ukraine

Meet your local guide and driver at the reception of your hotel at your specified desired time and set off on a private day trip to Bakota village, situated 55km (34mi) from Kamianets-Podilskyi. 

In 1981, Bakota village disappeared from the map, flooded by the Dniester River during the creation of the water reservoir on the river. However, the history of this settlement is still alive and your guide will tell you many interesting facts about the village and its people.

During the tour, you will see the dramatic cliffs overlooking the Dniester River, explore the ancient Bakota cave monastery, carved into the White Rock, and visit the scared monastery springs, renowned for their healing water. These places were inhabited long before the arrival of Christianity, and are surrounded by pagan temples and ancient graves. According to the legend, there is also a stone Buddha's footprint at the bottom of river.

In summertime, it is also possible to swim in the Dniester River (please bring a swimming suit and a towel with you).

At the end of the tour, your private driver will take you back to your hotel.
