We will try to solve the riddles of number one attraction of Ukraine - KIEV-PECHERSK LAVRA, which is the second oldest surviving Christian stronghold of Ukraine.
We will try to penetrate the little-known history of LAVRA CATACOMBS which hold the imperishable relics of 122 monks. I will share with you the stunning results of medical experimens on these remains. You will also learn what miraculous events happened here throughout centuries.
In addition, we will attend 3 churches, including the ASSUMPTION CATHEDRAL, and try to decipher the symbolism of images which adorn their walls. I will teach you how to read Ukrainian orthodox architecture and to interpret it through the prism of color science.

During this tour we will try to solve mysteries and riddles of number one attraction of Ukraine - the Monastery of the Caves, or KIEV-PECHERSK LAVRA, which is the second oldest surviving Christian stronghold of Ukraine. Founded in the middle of the 11th century it is rightly considered the cradle of Ukrainian Christianity and as such is often compared with the Roman Vatican.
We will try to penetrate the little-known depths of history of the MONASTERY CATACOMBS, which hold the imperishable relics of 122 saintly monks and holy persons sating back to the 11 century and onward. I will introduce you to the stunning results of medical experiments repeatedly performed by Soviet scientists on these remains. You will also learn what miraculous events happened in the Monastery holy grounds over many centuries.
In addition to the Catacombs, we will attend 3 churches, including the ASSUMPTION CATHEDRAL, and try to decipher the symbolism of icons and paintings that adorn their walls. I will teach you how to read the Ukrainian orthodox architecture and how to interpret it through the prism of color science.

At 95.6 meters, the Great Lavra Belltower dominates the Monastery grounds and has a number of terraces at various levels, which offer a terrific view of the surroundings, Kiev left bank and the Dnipro River on which Kiev stands.
