Day 1: Cornwall's Wild West Tour 1

Stop At: St. Michael's Mount, Kings Road, Marazion TR17 0EJ England
From ancient cobbles to castle walls, through time and tide, St Michael’s Mount is beckoning.
Walking over the causeway, or crossing by boat. Treading medieval pathways or exploring sub-tropical gardens. Climb the steps to the castle and uncover stories of the harbour, legend and family home. Admire the stunning views, hear the islanders tales and unearth a history that lives on in every step. Through time and tide the Mount creates moments to remember.

Stop At: Penzance Library, St. Johns Hall Alverton Street Alverton St, Penzance TR18 2QR England
An ancient market town serving the Landsend peninsular. Good restaurants, good pubs and interesting architecture - an eclectic mixture of the very old, the just 'old', and the quaint and interesting. See the oldest pub mentioned in Treasure Island.

Stop At: Newlyn Harbour, Newlyn, Penzance TR18, UK
We leave the town along the seafront road, passing the harbour and following the signpost to Newlyn. Cross the bridge at Newlyn and turn left, skirting Newlyn Harbour (a working harbour which is home to a modern, seagoing fishing fleet) and follow the signpost to Mousehole, continuing on the coast road and into Mousehole.

A very small, very old fishing village clinging to steep cliffs and clustering around a small harbour which can only be described as - well, like a mouse hole! Ask about the Legend of the Mousehole cat!

Stop At: Lamorna Cove, Lamorna, Penzance England
In an area of outstanding natural beauty, a perfect Cornish cove with a small granite harbour, nestling within granite cliffs to the East and West and a toy like row of granite cottages. Great stop for lunch.

Stop At: Merry Maidens, Lamorna, Penzance England
Stone circle from 3000 BC. Hear the story of how the Maidens got there name at this simply stunning Pagan site.

Stop At: Penberth Cove, St Levan, Penzance TR19, UK
From the car park there is a gentle 5 minute stroll down to Penberth Cove. Known as a Poldark filming location it is still a beautiful working fishing cove.

Stop At: Minack Theatre, Porthcurno, Penzance TR19 6JU England
Porthcurno was once an important place on the map. It was the centre of world telecommunication and, until recently, there was a training school for that industry to which people came from all over the world. The Porthcurno Telegraph Museum remains as a testament to the past. It incorporates tunnels well below the surface use to house top secret equipment during the Second World War.

On the cliffs to the west of Porthcurno is the world famous Minack Theatre . This wonderful open air venue commands superb views across Porthcurno Bay, with its turquoise water and golden rocks.
The Minack theatre is a 'must' - it's a spectacular open air theatre set in a natural amphitheatre in the cliffside, and looking out past Logan's Rock towards The Lizard - well worth a visit to either 'just look around' or attend a performance. The programmes change weekly and are spring, summer and autumn only.

Stop At: Lands End Visitor Centre, Land's End, Sennen TR19 7AA England
Spectacular craggy cliffs almost surround us and stretch back on either side. The wild Atlantic crashes against the cliffs below us ... with the Wolf Lighthouse, Longships Lighthouse visible on a clear day and the Isles of Scilly in the far distance on a very clear day.

Day 2: Cornwall's Roseland Tour

Stop At: St. Mawes Castle, St Mawes TR2 5DE England
St Mawes is the principal village on the Roseland Peninsula, situated on the mouth of the Percuil River. An important port in medieval times and now a picturesque harbour with a small fishing fleet, it is protected by the most perfectly preserved of Henry VIII's coastal fortresses, St Mawes Castle.

Stop At: St. Just in Roseland Church, St Just in Roseland TR2 5JD England
Dating back to the sixth century, this church can only be described as stunning! Immaculately kept graveyard like non you will have ever seen and the church itself will give you that "Wow" factor. Look out for the visitor book from 1944 where troops from around the world attended before the notorious D Day landings.

Stop At: The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Pentewan, St Austell PL26 6EN England
Twenty-five years ago, Heligan’s historic gardens were unknown and unseen; lost under a tangle of weeds. It was only the chance discovery of a door in the ruins that led to the restoration of this once great estate. Today, The Lost Gardens have been put back where they belong: in pride of place among the finest gardens in Cornwall.

Once again the streets are very narrow - the village of Mevagissey clustering around it's inner harbour and fishing fleet. Buy some fresh mackerel straight from the fishing boat - they're cheap, good to eat and good for you! Or buy a pasty from the shop near the harbour - they have an expanded range of very interesting and tasty offerings!

Stop At: Charlestown Harbour, Charlestown, St Austell PL25 3NJ England
To this day the port remains unspoiled and retains much of its Georgian character. This unique combination has lead to Charlestown being a popular location for film and television locations, and to some extent this has probably helped subsidise its existence and prevent development. Credits include Poldark, Hornblower, Mansfield Park and many more.
As well as being a harbour location Charlestown capitalises on it's past by harbouring a fleet of square riggers ships. There are usually at least one of these magnificent ships in the harbour and they really do transport you into a bygone era.

Day 3: Doc Martin & King Arthur Tour

Padstow is a charming working fishing port surrounded by glorious sandy beaches, at the head of the Camel River. Watching the everyday ebb and flow of harbour life is a perfect way to spend a day. This foodie destination with popular eateries such as Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant,

Port Quin, which lies a couple of miles around the corner from the popular Port Issac, is a magical near-deserted cove with a rugged natural harbour. The picture of serenity on a peaceful summer's day, with clear, clam waters

Stop At: Harbour, Port Isaac, Cornwall, Slipway Hotel Garage, Port Isaac England
Port Isaac is a traditional fishing village with a vibrant local community in north Cornwall and home to the TV series Doc Martin starring Martin Clunes. It's a truly picturesque village with narrow winding streets lined with whitewashed cottages that head down to the harbour where you can watch local fishermen landing their daily catch of fish, crab and lobsters.
Port Isaac is set amidst rugged and magnificent scenery on Cornwall's North coast with two beautiful ports nearby; Port Quin and Port Gaverne.  Great place for lunch and more time can be added if you wish to stay here longer.

Stop At: Tintagel Castle Castle Road, Tintagel PL34 0HE England
Legendary Home of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table - where they were all equal around that table! (the real life tale of William Marshall ... the most famous Knight of all time ... is most interesting and there are obvious parallels).
In any event, the site of his castle is certainly impregnable on three sides - and the fourth side would have looked a bit intimidating to a would-be attacker. Take the Landrover vehicle down to the castle to save your legs - and again on the return.
