Make your own ceramic bee waterer and help save the bees

This is a great workshop to learn some , simple pottery techniques and make a beautiful water bowl for your patio or amongst the flower beds in your garden. Specifically designed for bees to be able to get fresh clean water (no chemicals from agricultural runoff ) the central parts ensure bees cant drown, as they often do in bird baths and swimming pools .

Itinerary

We will get our aprons on and I will give a brief explanation of the process .You will be using terracotta clay to make a shallow bowl form from a rolled out slab which will be cut out , and decorated with coloured glazes and hand modeled parts then pressed into a bowl shape .We will be colouring the clay at the leather hard stage using underglaze colours which are food safe for the bees , you can make the central parts to your own design or use the same flower shapes as I use , I will show you various ideas but you can add anything you like to customise and make it as personal to you as you like for yourself or a gift . I'll put the kettle on when everyone has started , tea and coffee provided in the cost . Once your bee bowls are dry , which takes 2 to 3 weeks I will bisc fire them then glaze and refire ready for you to collect , if postage is required I will need to take £5 on the day along with your address and I will post these out to you .
