Route Duration: 8 hours

Stops on the The Outlander:
  • Highland Folk Museum
  • Aviemore
  • Clava Cairns
  • Culloden Battlefield
  • Craigphadrig Wood
Attractions on the The Outlander:

The Old Packhorse Bridge

Operates: I will pick you up from your accommodation in Inverness at 9am and we are off down the A9 – heading to The Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore where much of the first series of Outlander was filmed and also where you will be shown by the ‘residents’ there what life was like back then and see first hand how Claire must have felt being ‘transported’ back to this time when people lived off the land – you will be taken back to the 1700’s and experience it for yourself! We then carry on inland to Ruthven Barracks for some photo’s and a walk about the Fort that was built by Georges army after the failed Jacobite uprising of 1715 and where the Jacobite rebels who escaped Culloden met conceding defeat after the battle. We will grab lunch in Aviemore - the heart of the Cairngorms before heading north to The Clava Cairns! *Guests are reminded that IF anyone does go through the stones to 1745…my insurance doesn’t actually cover ‘time travel blips’ and you may have to reside with Clan Fraser for the rest of your time here in Scotland!* Once we have everyone back on the bus safe and sound, we are heading to Culloden Battlefield – where you can make your way through the interactive tour they have there (highly recommended) and then explore the battlefield for yourselves. A truly spiritual experience. We will stop in past Culloden House on the way back to Inverness – where Dougal Mackenzie met his demise – at the hands of Jamie and Claire. Our final stop - for those up for a walk, is the Leachkin Stones before I take you back to your accommodation.
