This tour lets you experience wildlife camping with a level of home comfort and as I was trained in South Africa this tour differs a lot from most Scottish wildlife tours. You will look for the most iconic wildlife Scotland has to offer while enjoying the beautiful Scottish scenery.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Muir of Dinnet

Stop At: Muir of Dinnet National Nature Reserve, Dinnet, Ballater Scotland
I will meet you at Edinburgh airport or another prearranged destination and we will go to Muir of Dinnet. On the first day we will settle into camp life and I will make our dinner.
Duration: 1 day

Day 2: Muir of Dinnet

Stop At: Muir of Dinnet National Nature Reserve, Dinnet, Ballater Scotland
Before breakfast, we will go on an adventure to find some otters at a near by loch before heading back for breakfast and a rest. After breakfast we will explore the Nature reserve looking for Red Squirrels, Roe deer and a variety of bird life such as the Tree Creepers, Ravens and the Peregrine Falcon. We will stop for lunch during the day and have dinner, cooked on the campfire and stove once we return to camp.

Day 3: Muir of Dinnet

Stop At: Muir of Dinnet National Nature Reserve, Dinnet, Ballater Scotland
After breakfast, we will walk to the Burn O'Vat, a local geographical feature with a mysterious history before walking through the woods surrounding it looking for wildlife and to learn about the trees. Stopping for lunch during the day, once we get back to camp we can have our dinner and relax and do some astronomy with a telescope and swap stories about the stars.

Day 4: Lock Muick

Stop At: Loch Muick, Glen Muick, Ballater Scotland
After breakfast we will travel to another reserve and go into the highlands in search of Red Deer. We will stop during the day for lunch and once we get back to camp we can have dinner and relax around the campfire, toasting marshmallows and drinking hot chocolate as the nights draw in.

Day 5: Lock Muick

Stop At: Loch Muick, Glen Muick, Ballater Scotland

Day 6: Muir of Dinnet

Stop At: Muir of Dinnet National Nature Reserve, Dinnet, Ballater Scotland
As most people start getting tired on Saturday after a week of guiding on the last day we will have a slower paced day. We will spend the day looking for small mammals, butterflies and dragonflies using a butterfly net. We will also look for life in the burns (streams). In the evening after dinner we will sit at the Loch looking for Otters which are regularly seen.

Day 7: Leaving the tour

Stop At: Muir of Dinnet National Nature Reserve, Dinnet, Ballater Scotland
You will leave the Cairngorms and be dropped of at the train station or bus stop or airport so you can travel home.
