Less than an hour from the city of Fairbanks, Borealis Basecamp is not a destination, it is an experience. Stay overnight in exclusive igloos similar to those utilized by polar expeditions and research stations. Crafted exclusively to maximize Northern Lights viewing and comfort, these domes are intimate retreats in the midst of an Alaska winter. Clear, curved windows stretch 16 feet across each dome roof, allow you to lie in bed and view the dancing northern lights and scenery outdoors without leaving your cozy nest.

Itinerary

Day 1: Fairbanks Arrival

Stop At: Fairbanks International Airport, 6450 Airport Way, Fairbanks, AK 99709, USA
Arrive into Fairbanks and transfer from the airport by hotel shuttle or on your own. Overnight in Fairbanks.

Optional Activity:
Aurora Viewing begins at 10PM from your Fairbanks hotel. Travelling North of town to Borealis Basecamp for an evening of Aurora Viewing. We provide snacks, drinks, and basic night time photography instruction including complimentary tripod usage and optional Camera/Lens rental.

Chena Night Tour departs Fairbanks at 5PM heading east to Chena Hotsprings. Begin your evening with a visit to the year-round Ice Museum, relax in the Hotsprings to your hearts content and finish your evening with Aurora Viewing. Returning to Fairbanks around 4:00AM.

Day 2: Fairbanks to Borealis Basecamp

Stop At: Borealis Basecamp, 2640 Himalaya Rd, Fairbanks, AK 99712, USA
The morning is at leisure in Fairbanks.
At 11:00AM you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Borealis Basecamp, approximately 45-50 minutes north of Fairbanks. This accommodation offers an exceptional stay in fiberglass domes with large, curved windows for optimal northern lights viewing right from your room!
Overnight Borealis Basecamp.

Today relax and enjoy all the camp has to offer. Included today is an ATV or Dog Cart Tour or later in the season when snow conditions allow (typically starting mid-November) a Snowmachine or Dog Sledding Tour. Any of those tours are approx. 1 hour long. (Only one activity is included, please choose at time of booking). Winter gear is provided.

Day 3: Borealis Basecamp - Fairbanks

Stop At: Borealis Basecamp, 2640 Himalaya Rd, Fairbanks, AK 99712, USA
You can select from either returning to Fairbanks at 12 Noon and participating in an optional experience or stay at Basecamp with return to Fairbanks at 4:00PM.

Custom private transfer available for additional $10.00 per person.

Optional Activity
Arctic Circle Tour begins with departing Basecamp at 10:30 AM and heading North to the Arctic Circle. Enjoy the beauty of Alaska’s interior, traveling along the world famous Dalton Highway and traverse the mighty Yukon River. Cross the Arctic Circle in a ceremonious fashion and receive an Arctic Circle certificate.
Priced at $229.00 per person standard season.

Day 4: Fairbanks Departure

Select an optional tour today at your leisure or use the Hotel Shuttle for departure to Fairbanks International Airport.

Optional Activity
Fairbanks City Tour begins at your hotel with free pickup between 12:00 and 12:30PM. Experience Santa Clause House, Museum of the North (M-Sa) or Antique Auto Museum (Su), Morris Thompson Center and learn the history of the “Golden Heart City.”
Priced at $115 per person with dropoff at 5:30PM.

To ensure your stay in Borealis Basecamp, we may have to adjust the sequence of itinerary, subject to the availability of Igloos. You may stay in the Borealis Basecamp on the last night. Therefore, please schedule your departure flight after 3 pm or you will need to arrange your own transfer to the airport (no refund in this case).
