Badlands Premium Tour (North & South Units)

The only tour that goes to both North and South Units* of Badlands National Park! This tour includes history of the Lakota Sioux and travel through the South Unit of the Badlands Park.

We travel along 'The Loop' viewing the serrated spires, weather-beaten buttes and cavernous gorges of the North Unit. It's home to a diverse variety of wildlife; prairie dogs, coyote, deer, bighorn sheep and antelope. We will stop at the Ben Reifel Center (museum) and at the many overlooks for photos. We also stop at Wall Drug Store (famous old tourist trap that is worth seeing) and visit the new Minuteman National Historic Site.

We enjoy a 'local' lunch at a small restaurant in Interior SD (pop 30) and then stop for photos at the ghost town of Scenic. Here we discuss the history of the town and the impact on the Lakota and the White River Visitor Center location on Pine Ridge.

Old West ghost town that served as a railway depot and stockyard for Department of Interior cattle for the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

Duration: 10 minutes

Located inside the South Unit of the National Park and on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. This center provides artifacts and artwork of the Lakota and have local Rangers provide talks about the Native American local history.
