As we head to this iconic historic gold mine, we make a stop at the Hoover Dam as many guests like the opportunity to visit this famous Dam, learn some history and take some pictures while on the way!! Then, off to Eldorado Canyon! In the mid-1800s gold, silver AND copper, were discovered in what became named Eldorado Canyon. In 1861 miners discovered the Salvage Vein, which led to the formation of The Techatticup Mine. It is this particular mine, we will visit on this tour and learn fascinating details about it and the life of the miners who worked and lived there as well as about the wealth of gold and silver found in the area!! In the 1920s, nearby Nelsons Landing, a popular cliff jumping spot among locals today, was a busy port because prohibition skyrocketed illegal moonshine prices in neighboring Arizona sending traders to this port for illegal spirits. The Techatticup Mine remained active until the mid-1940s, yielding millions of dollars in precious metals during its productive years. Today, the guided above and below ground tours take you into one of the oldest and most famous gold mines in Southern Nevada. After resurfacing, you can enjoy the Museum/Gift Shop near the mine, which holds an eclectic collection of historical items from the area. Prices set for two person minimum but will accomodate individual travelers with an upcharge.
