Jungle Prada Site Tour

The Jungle Prada site features the best-preserved American Indian mound in Tampa Bay. For the last 75 years the Anderson family have been the stewards of that history. Harold C. Anderson purchased the private portion of the Indian mound along Park Street in 1940 from developer Walter P. Fuller. He and his wife Frances became stewards of the site, protecting their section of the ancient village plaza during a period of intense development in the Jungle area. Today, Harold Anderson’s grandson David offers a guided tour of his family property that discusses the lives of the Tocobaga Indians. This waterfront location has a special energy and tranquility, and is a peaceful place of spiritual relaxation. It is also the purported landing site of Spanish explorers Panfilo de Narvaez and Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca. Learn the amazing story of Cabeza de Vaca, who journeyed from Florida all the way to the Pacific Ocean between 1528 and 1536 at the place where his incredible journey began.
