Get ready for a truly authentic food experience of a lifetime.  I'm Lanai Tabura, born and raised in Hawaii and currently the host of Cooking Hawaiian Style which airs in 250 cites in the US & 5 other countries. I'm going to take you to all my local favorite hole in walls and establishments that you'll never find unless you were born and raised here in the islands. Some of these place I've been to since I was a child.  I just recently won a Emmy award 2018 for the history of a Ramen Documentary. I am also part of the Food Network team Aloha Plate that won season 4 Of "The Great Food Truck Race" I've appeared with Anthony Bourdaim, Man vs. Food & Diners Drive-ins a Dives. I host a series that just begun airing in Hawaii and Hawaiian Airlines called "We Go Eeat" that features the foods from Hawaii.

This private & personal tour ( no more than 4 people) will begin at a local grocery store to sample some of the best poke and spam Musubi in the world. Starting at a the local grocery stores I can explain where our foods come from and  that's where you will find the best foods. Then head to Kalihi for a Manapua tasting and taro factory. We then sit for a authentic Hawaiian food lunch and learn the history and how it's made. For the finale we head to an old school bakery or shave Ice store.

Lanai is a one-of-a-kind guy and loves showing visitors a good time on Oahu in a local style way. Explore the history and culture of the islands at Hawaii Plantation Village and learn why this state is considered the melting pot of the Pacific. You’ll also stop at a local poke shop and sample a variety of fresh Hawaiian seafood plus some of Lanai’s favorites. Keep an open mind and let your taste buds do the talking! This is your chance to try new things and keep a fresh outlook on life. You’ll never know unless you try!

Because this tour varies based on the group and Lanai’s ideas for the day, no two tours are alike. We can however guarantee good, local, real food and flavors of Hawaii! None of that sugary, sweet comfort food that the other tour companies call ‘real’- this is an authentic experience introducing guests to the local style of ‘grinding’ (Hawaiian pidgin word for eating). Your mantra for this tour will quickly become, “Ho Lanai, I like grind!”
