In 1978, route 66 was replaced by the Interstate 40. The newly built highway by-passed the town of Seligman and created an enormous economic and social depression in the town that inspired the movie Cars, 2006. Many business disappeared in a day, townspeople moved and several buildings were abandoned. The town of Seligman saw its harshest times for over 10 years, until a gentleman named Angel Delgadillo decided to stand up for his birthplace and bring his town back to life. Because of this real life angel the town has picked-up on its tourism industry. We will make a stop at Angels gift and barber shop where he still works, and if we are lucky, we might just meet the iconic man himself! We will be able to shop, explore and take pictures with some of the characters from the famous movie: Cars.
