5-Day Excursion to Canaima National Park from Caracas

Set out on a memorable journey to Canaima National Park and visit the world tallest single waterfall, the 979 meter high Angel Falls discovered by the pilot Jimmy Angel in 1937. Admire breathtaking landscapes, extraordinary natural monuments and rock formations.

Canaima National Park lies on the Macizo de Guayana, one of the oldest geological formations in the world. The Park covers 80.000 km2 and is characterized by the fascinating “tepuys” (Pemon word for mountains). It was included in the UNESCO World Natural Heritage List in 1994. The park is covered by lush vegetation,more than 500 orchid species and a variety of bromelias. Inhabited by several Indian communities of the Pemon family.

The tour includes support night  in hotel near by Simón Bolivar Maiquetia International Airport upon arrival and departure or  in hotel located in Puerto Ordaz city, airport transfers, domestic flight tickets, full board accommodation at Canaima and meals as indicated

Arrival at Maiquetía International Airport in Caracas, meeting with our representative, assistance for connecting flight to Puerto Ordaz. Arrival to Manuel Carlos Piar Guayana International Airport, meeting with our staff for transfer to the hotel. Check-in for overnight stay.

2ª day

Caracas – Canaima National Park

Transfer to Maiquetía International Airport for flight Caracas – Puerto Ordaz, then, airport assistance for connecting flight Puerto Ordaz- Canaima. Arrival and transfer to the Lodge. Check in or

Puerto Ordaz- Canaima National Park

Transfer to Manuel Carlos Piar Guayana International Airport for flight Puerto Ordaz/ Canaima. Arrival and transfer to the Lodge. Check in.

After lunch, enjoy a short excursion by curiara (local canoe) over the Canaima Lagoon. The water and surface foam in rivers and lagoons are usually reddish, a phenomenon generated by the presence of tannin, an organic acid produced by vegetation decomposing under the sun.

Canaima

Full day free for optional excursions within the Canaima National Park.  A visit to the base of the Angel Falls, to Orchid Island, Kavak or El Sapo waterfall are recommended.
