3-day Mai Chau Private Tour From Hanoi

This trip will cover two authentic villages in the north of Vietnam: Duong Lam – the famous ancient village of Viet people and Mai Chau - the valley of the Thai people which is covered by a beautiful carpet of green rice fields. Our three days trip to Duong Lam and Mai Chau will provide you great experience of typical daily life in Red river delta and great discovery of mountain area, mingle with difference hill tribe people and experience the daily life activities in the Thai village.

Day 1: HANOI – TAY PHUONG PAGODA – DUONG LAM VILLAGE - MAICHAU (-/L/D)

Morning we will take one hour drive to Tay Phuong, one of ten most beautiful pagodas in Vietnam. Located on the top of the hill, this pagoda is very famous about the collection of Buddha and Arhat statues from 17th century and great architecture. After that, back to the car for driving to the ancient village of Duong Lam, the place so called “Hoi An of the Red River Delta” as still preserve many hundred-year-old houses. It will be your unique experience as you walk along tiny ancient alleys, visit Communal House in Mong Phu hamlet - the only hamlet whose original village entrance gate remains intact, dedicated to national heroes and experience the green tea and local candy in the oldest Tea House in Vietnam like local people in the village. Enjoy the great home hosted lunch in traditional atmosphere in most beautiful ancient house in the village of Mr. Huyen. After lunch, depart to Mai Chau – the peaceful valley of Thai people. This trip gives you a lot of photo opportunities with spectacular scenery of mountain area and rice fields. Upon arrival to Mai Chau, check in local house on stilts of Thai people in Pom Coong village.

Overnight and dinner at homestay of Thai people.

 Day 2: MAI CHAU - XAM KHOE - MAI CHAU (B/L/D)

We will drive to the central of the valley for 20 kms trekking back to the house on the stilts. We start to trek on the mountainsides to Xam Khoe Village. The trekking is difficult at times with some steep uphill and downhill walking, but the views are incredible however some physical preparation will enable you to fully appreciate today's trek. Then we will hike along the path over villages of Thai people. Stop for the picnic lunch in a family of Thai people on the way. We trek up 4 kms over the bamboo forest over the mountain towards to our village. Get back to Pom Coong Village in the afternoon. After dinner, enjoy the great music and dance performance of Thai people in the village.

 Day 3: MAI CHAU – XA LINH VILLAGE - HANOI (B/L/-)

Drive up to Xa Linh area about 35 kms away from Mai Chau. First, we will visit Na Bai – the traditional village of Muong People locates on the beautiful plateau on the bank of Hoa Binh reservoir, this village is hidden from tourist and very friendly to the visitors. You will have lots of chances to interact to hill tribe people there. Then transfer to visit the village of Mong people at Xa Linh. We will have lunch at local restaurant on the way back to Hanoi. We will take another route from Cao Phong to Hanoi via Kim Boi with great scenery of limestone cliff, rice field and tea plantation. Arrive back to Hanoi in late afternoon. Tour Concluded.
