Cu Chi Cao Dai 1 Day
The Great Holy See Temple, built in 1926, is considered one of the most striking structures in all of south-east Asia. It is the centre of
Cao Daism, a religion that blends Buddhism, Christianity and Confucianism. Explore this fascinating site and attend the colorful noon-day mass held by the Cao Dai followers. It is an experience not to be missed. After lunch, visit the
Cu Chi Tunnels.
• Having an opportunity to enjoy a short film of Cu Chi tunnels before entering the underground so that tourists have a deeper understanding of how this complex system works.
• Giving it a try to fire an M16 rifle at the shooting site (payment is required).
• Enjoying some kinds of local food.
• There are nine hierarchies of worship including a pope, cardinals and archbishop with festivals, rituals and prayer all practiced regularly. The temple is similar in design to a Christian Cathedral featuring side aisles and an altar, as well as a long central nave, all positioned as they would be in a Christian Church, there is even a high dome decorated with clouds and saints. The main focal point is a Divine Eye symbolising God which has the Ying and Yang icon in its pupil. Ceremonies take place daily with two services accompanied by musicians and a choir singing in English to traditional Vietnamese music.
Cu Chi used to be a bitter battleground for many years during the Vietnam War. Visitors to our country should not miss a visit to these underground villages. They are an intricate network of over 200km of tunnels at Ben Dinh, 60km from Ho Chi Minh City.
