Motorcycle trip in North West Vietnam

The borders of the North-West, circuit dedicated to curious and adventurous travelers. We invite you to discover the picturesque terraced rice fields, the awe-inspiring mountains, the villages located in the new confines of the tourist map, and the life of the minority ethnic groups which preserve ancestral customs and traditions. Unusual meetings and sharing are at the heart of this trip! The end of the circuit is devoted to a cruise to Cat Ba and the visit of the two ancient imperial cities to relax before returning.

Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi, Pu Luong

Stop At: Pu Luong Nature Reserve, Pho Doan, Thanh Hoa 448100 Vietnam
A motorbike trip to Vietnam of over 1000 km through rivers, mountains and forests awaits you. Departure to the Pu Luong nature reserve by taking the Ho Chi Minh road in the middle of the relief and bucolic landscapes. We cross the villages of Muong, Thai with their traditional wooden houses on stilts and the water wheels which irrigate the rice fields.

Arrival at Hieu village which is located in the middle of the quiet oasis of Pu Luong. Night with Thai people in their house on stilts.

Day 2: Pu Luong, Moc Chau

Stop At: Moc Chau, Moc Chau, Son La Province
Walk in the mountains and rice terraces. Departure towards Moc Chau, through the reserve and the Mai Chau valley. National road 6 then a small road lead us to Doi village.

Day 3: Moc Chau, Nghia Lo

Stop At: Nghia Lo, Nghia Lo, Yen Bai Province
Full North through the villages, the tea-tree hills, the cornfields on a winding road, we climb a pass and descend to the Da river forming a lake at this place where we pass on the ferry.

After the mountains and the passes, arrival on the Thai territory of the Yen Bai province.

Day 4: Nghia Lo, Mu Cang Chai, Than Uyen

Stop At: Mu Cang Chai, Mu Cang Chai, Yen Bai Province
Via Mu Cang Chai, we cross the valleys and cross several passes to see the rice terraces before joining the green valley. Visit the market of Than Uyen.

Day 5: Than Uyen, Bac Ha

Stop At: Bac Ha, Bac Ha, Lao Cai Province
We cross the valleys of the Xuan Giao, Pho Lu and Bac Ngam regions to reach Bac Ha. Discovery of the daily life of the Hmong flower ethnic group known for the distillation of corn alcohol in Ban Pho village. Night after a hearty meal in a friendly atmosphere with the Tay family.

Day 6: Bac Ha, Phuc An

Stop At: Bac Ha Market, Bac Ha 330000 Vietnam
Visit the Bac Ha Sunday market which is the largest ethnic market in the region and which will represent a highlight of your motorcycle trip to Vietnam.

Stop At: Thac Ba Lake, Yen Binh District, Yen Bai 320000 Vietnam
Observation of a marble sculpture workshop in Phuc An. Then we follow the Thac Ba lake while passing by villages with their wooden houses on stilts (with roofing of latanier leaves) and rice fields.

Day 7: Phuc An, Hanoi

Stop At: Thac Ba Lake, Yen Binh District, Yen Bai 320000 Vietnam
Walk and swim on the Thac Ba lake, which impresses us with its turquoise water and its countless green islets. Return to Hanoi

Day 8: Hanoi, Cat Ba (by car)

Stop At: Lan Ha Bay, Cat Ba Vietnam
The cruise allows us to discover the bay of Lan Ha. The junk crosses a first floating fishing village. Tasting a lunch based on seafood and fish.

A boat trip (or kayak) makes us discover the Ca tunnel and a beautiful lake entirely surrounded by cliffs.

Day 9: Cat Ba, Ninh Binh (by car)

Stop At: Lan Ha Bay, Cat Ba Vietnam
At sunrise we continue the cruise through the islets towards the village of Viet Hai for a bike ride. Back to the boat, a last swim in the bay, and then the junk lands us at the port of Ben Beo.

Stop At: Ninh Binh, Ninh Binh, Ninh Binh Province
Ninh Binh is our next step. A few hours drive from Cat Ba is such a grand and mysterious place: the Halong Bay on land!

Day 10: Ninh Binh, Hanoi (by car)

Stop At: Ninh Binh, Ninh Binh, Ninh Binh Province
Many rivers in Tam Coc meander between hundreds of karst peaks and bright green rice fields. Boat ride on the Ngo Dong river in these exceptional landscapes.

Then by bike, we reach the Bich Dong pagoda offering a magnificent view of the surrounding region. Visit the gigantic Bai Dinh Buddhist pagoda (the largest in Vietnam) made up of the largest gilded bronze Buddhas in Southeast Asia over 100 tonnes.

Return to Hanoi.

Day 11: Hanoi

Stop At: Hanoi, Hanoi
Day of discovery of Hanoi with a walk in the old quarter (the streets of the trades, Kim Ngan town hall, the old merchant's house, the Dong Xuan market and the Paul Doumer bridge). The visit goes through the Temple of Literature (the first university in Vietnam). Lunch with a traditional Hanoi dish.

Visit the district of Ba Dinh, where is the mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh, its house on stilts and the garden within the walls of the presidential palace, the Tran Quoc pagoda (the oldest pagoda in Hanoi) and the Quan temple Thanh (at the cult of the guardian genius of the North with its imposing bronze statue of almost 4 tonnes).

Puppet show before transfer to the airport for your return.
