Tho Ha village private tour

Tho Ha is the name of a craft village in Bac Giang province. It is an ancient village with charming scenery, banyan trees, water wharves, communal houses, ancient houses in the ancient alleyways. The village was famous with Gom Sanh (pottery without glaze fired with dry grass). Then the products here faced with compettion by products from other places in Vietnam and China as well. So the villagers of Tho Ha turned into making rice paper and thus pottery job was gradually abandoned, coming to an end of traditional pottery produce.

A day trip to the village you will experience the daily life of people here by tasting a very normal, but unique local food here that you can find nowhere else in Vietnam.

Stop At: Tho Ha Village, Vietnam

08:00 Tour guide and car pick you up at your place then go to Tho Ha village. On the way, the bus cross by rice fields, vegetable farms and it will be a good chance shot countryside pictures, farmers with water buffalo,….

09:00 Arrive the local ferry, board on to cross the river. After 5 minutes, Tho Ha village apear right in your eyes. You walk around to visit a small, but very typical market of northern Vietnam. You soon have an overview of the culture after a short time here, seeing people, tasting some local speciality.

09:30 Continue to visit families and learn more about their culture, with their daily works such as rice making paper, rice wine,… Especially, when strolling through narrow and zigzag alleys, you can see many old houses constructed from broken part of terracotta dated back long time ago.

10.30 A glimpse at Communal house (once familiar with banian tree, a digged well/or a river, a communal yard) and a pagoda nearby the market. Our tour guide will give brief introduction of the village culture and what the life was in the past.

(Sometimes the entrace to the communal house and pagoda is closed for no reason and without prior notice).

11.00 Visit a very nice, ancient house of a local which dated back more than 100 years old. Most outside part was refurbished, but the ceiling and decorated wall pictures remain original of nearly 100 years old. Also, this family still keep the original job of rice paper making by hand (most families in the area now making rice paper in an industrial way by using electric machine). Also, a traditional folk music of different types will be offered and played by the owner e).

12.30 Enjoy lunch in the local family with finest Vietnamese food which you find it difficult somewhere else better than here.

After lunch enjoy vietnamese tea before get back Hanoi and finish your trip at your hotel/place
