Itinerary

Day 1: DAY 1: HANOI - MAI CHAU

Stop At: Mai Chau Ecolodge, Nà Phòn, Mai Châu District, Hoa Binh, Vietnam
Depart from Hanoi at 8:00 a.m., the morning drive takes you toward Hoa Binh province. After the bustling city, your drive becomes more scenic as you are making the way through the countryside with views of villages, small towns and farms along the way. You're able to make short stops for photo opportunities. Arrive at a village of White Thai people in Mai Chau Valley around noon. Have a Vietnamese lunch at the village.

In the afternoon, take a gentle trek to explore the surroundings with villages of stilt house, fruit and vegetable gardens and rice fields. This is a great chance for you to learn the daily life of the locals and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Back to the family for dinner and enjoy the traditional music and dance (The show is optional), performed by the local boys and girls in the traditional dress. Overnight on a stilt house.

Day 2: DAY 2: MAI CHAU - MOC CHAU

Stop At: Moc Chau Plateau, National Route 6, Moc Chau Vietnam
After your breakfast, get transferred to a trekking point at Mai Hich valley to embark on a morning trek through the long valley of more stilt-house villages, farms and gardens. It is a bit more uneven than Mai Chau Valley so you are able to see some terraced fields some times on the trek. The scenery is also very peacful and rural. Get picked up by your private vehicle at the end of the trek, return to Mai Chau for the lunch.

The afternoon drive takes you about 2 hours to Moc Chau Plateau. Upon arrival at Moc Chau town, drive onward to the tea plantation for around 1,5 hours trekking up and down the low hills of green-tea. After that, drive back to town and check into your private container bungalow at Moc Chau Arena Village for the night.

Day 3: DAY 3: MOC CHAU - MU CANG CHAI

Stop At: Mu Cang Chai, National Road 32, Yen Bai 320000 Vietnam
This is a longer driving day. The distance is 200km roughly. You will have some interesting breaks on the way. First stop is Hang Doi or Bat Cave. This is a big limestone in Moc Chau. Lunch is served on the way. The afternoon drive is winding up to Mu Cang Chai via Son La and Nam Chien hydro-power plans. Have short stops by the dames for taking some photos. Late in the afternoon, have an other stop at Ngoc Chien Commune to visit an interesting Hot Spring. This is the perfect time of the day when you have a chance to witness the ethnic Thai villagers's naked bathing custom. You're able to check in a nearby family for a dip to enjoy the warm bath if you wish. Thence, head to your accommodation in Mu Cang Chai for the night.

Day 4: DAY 4: MU CANG CHAI

Breakfast at the lodge. At 8:45 a.m. start the day by a transfer to a trekking point at Che Cu Nha Commune. The trek is about 12km on dirt paths to La Pan Tan Commue. This part of the nation's unique landscape will definitely offer you a great experience for your Vietnam trip. Beside the amazing terraced fields, you also have chance to visit some ethnic villages of the H'mong people. You have a lunch box for today. At the end of the trek, get picked up and get back to the lodge for the second night.

This morning, start your trekking day by a short transfer to Y Linh Ho trekking point. Moving downhill to the terraced fields and follow small paths, crossing a river on a interesting suspension bridge. Continue on the trek uphill. This is rather challenging when it is wet but definitely offers you spetacular view over the valley. Finish your morning scenic trek at Lao Chai Village where your private vehicle awaits you. Back to the town for Lunch before your afternoon drive to Bac Ha District. Dinner and stay overnight in Bac Ha.
