3 days; Naumba Foraging of edible African Wild Food plants in Kafue sub-basin
The package includes a guided foraging tour to the Kafue sub-basin food map area. Cooking with the chef, a three-course dinner made with foraged foods and organic super drinks. Foragers will find it massively satisfying preparing, cooking and eating what they themselves collected from Mother Earth the African traditional way. Foraging has the benefit of connecting people to nature.
The tours are a fresh way to experience the true authenticity of the Kafue sub-basin food map area, situated in central province, in Itezhi Tezhi district of Zambia. This food map area is hidden away in a remote hypnotic true African wilderness in Namwala Game Management which is rich in a wide-range of diverse flora and fauna. The Kafue sub-basin food map sits outside the Kafue National Park and has no dangerous wild animals.
The package also includes an exciting one day guided Game viewing tour to the Kafue National Park.
Who is eligible: Any first time beginner or Professional Foragers are welcome.
Itinerary
Day 1: Start of Activities in the Public Forests of Kafue sub-basin food map outside Kafue National Park - Southern region
Stop At: Kafue National Park, Kafue National Park
05: 30 am -06:10 am: Wakeup call from either from Nahubwe Safari Lodge camp and campsite or CMS Lodge or Kafue or Main Guest Flats in Itezhi Tezhi town about 4 Km away from the entrance of the park),
07:00 pm: Thereafter take breakfast combined with a briefing session on planned activities of the day.
06:20 am - 09:30 am Leave for Ngoma game management area of the Kafue National Park-Southern region for game viewing.
09:30 am 10:30 am: Travel towards the spinal road of Ngoma management area inside the Kafue National Park Southern region.
10:20 am 11.30 am : Commence touring around Ngoma area management using various inner loops for closer game viewing excursion.
11:30 am 12:00 pm Drive to the Elephant Orphanage within the Kafue Nationa Park Southern region.
See the marvelous work being done in looking after vulnerable elephants. Any donation in kind is welcome to appreciate the marvelous work being done in looking after vulnerable elephants.
What can be donated can be:
1. Medicines to be used for caring for these elephants
2. Food supplements for the elephants, safety working clothing for the care givers .
12:30 pm - 13:30 pm: Lunch break at Elephant Orphanage centre.
14:00 pm 15-00 pm- Afternoon game drive around the Ngoma game management area
17:00 pm - 18:00 pm: Travel outside Kafue National park to Nahubwe camp site outside Kafue National for camping excursion or to CMS Lodge or Kafue or Main Guest Flats in Itezhi Tezhi town, relax and (prepare a bon fire - applicable only for those camping at Nahubwe camp site).
21:00 pm- Retire to bed

Day 2: Commencement of foraging tour
Stop At: Kafue National Park, Kafue National Park
07:00 am 07: 30 pm Take Breakfast combined with a briefing session on planned activities of the day.
08:00 am Foraging Tour and Nature walk: Leave for section (A) of the Kafue sub-region food area around the Nahubwe camp and campsite on foot;/or driving for faraway place.
08:30 am Commence foraging activities:
11:30 am ; Collect all your harvested edible local Native African natural Wild Fruits and medicinal plant foods and return to Nahubwe camp and campsite.
12:30 pm - 13:30 pm: Lunch break at Nahubwe camp and campsite
13:30 pm - 14:30 pm; Take an hour of rest at Nahubwe camp and campsite.
14:30 pm 17:00 pm: Commencement of the preparation, cooking of foraged goods into food and super drinks under the guidance of the Chef adopting a ZERO waste food preparation methodology.
17:00 pm 17:30 pm: Setting up of table and display of various foraged food and super drinks
17:30 pm - 18:30pm: Relax and take group dinner around a born fire whilst listening to traditional forlklore by a local village elder.
19:00 pm: disperse and return to respective sleeping places.
21:00 pm - Retire to bed

Day 3: Combined foraging tour and fishing activities
Stop At: Kafue National Park, Kafue National Park
07:00 am 07: 40 pm Take Breakfast combined with a briefing session on planned activities of the day.
08:00 am Foraging Tour and Nature walk: Leave for section (B) of the Kafue sub-region food Public Forest area around the Nahubwe camp and campsite on foot/or driving;
08:30 am Commence foraging activities:
Fishing;
07:30 10:00: Continue doing Foraging of edible African Indigenous Wild Food plants in a different section (B) of the Kafue sub-region food Public Forest area. The food foraging activities on the 3rd day will be interspersed with doing fishing on lake Itezhi Tezhi. Lake Itezhi Tezhi is rich in a variety of fish species such as, barbell, pink including Cray Fish.
12:30 pm - 13:30 pm: Lunch break at Nahubwe camp and campsite
13:30 pm - 14:30 pm; Take an hour of rest at Nahubwe camp and campsite.
14:30 pm 17:00 pm: Commencement of the preparation, cooking of foraged goods into food and super drinks under the guidance of the Chef. Adopt a ZERO waste food preparation methodology.
17:00 pm 17:30 pm: Setting up of table and display of various foraged food and super drinks
17:30 pm - 18:30pm: Relax and take group dinner around a born fire whilst watching traditional dances and performances from the local village dancing groups.
19:00 pm: Disperse and return to respective sleeping places.
21:00 pm - Retire to bed
